    Channa bleheri gender

I would say female or young male. So age is a factor. I'm leaning towards female, the fins don't overlap enough to my liking.

Belgium weather blows - ideas on what to stock outside

That's actually amazingly good looking. Might not be doable, cost wise for a pond that size in one go, but definitely can be done over time. :) Doesn't it get green with sun exposure? Would white sand work if it turns out to be cheaper than rocks or are rocks better because you have a longer...

Belgium weather blows - ideas on what to stock outside

Makes me think I should limit myself to platinum versions if I ever want to see my fish, but while platinum argus are easy to come by, platinum gars are on a whole other budget. I still need to figure out the way ponds work, and whilst stone ponds seem clearer, they're not feasible with a...

Belgium weather blows - ideas on what to stock outside

I thought of that, they live in our waters, like any other European country since they're pretty invasive, but if I get a wels, I'm basically giving up on any other fish AND have to prepare to feed a 2-3m long fish.

Belgium weather blows - ideas on what to stock outside

Would a gar live through the winter before adult size? I know they are hardy fish, and I "could" raise one in a tank until it outgrows it, but that sounds like a gamble, does it not? You guys might actually bring hope to actually have some decent fish in these waters. :) Probably wouldn't have...

Bowfin in freezing water? Bowfin was actually one of my indoor plans, I love that fish. If it can live through the winter, I need me a pair!

Belgium weather blows - ideas on what to stock outside

I didn't say cold water fish are boring! I said I didn't want boring cold water fish such as carps and kois. :) (Again, to me) So to you, if I want to actually see into the water, I need to reduce the size? I saw filtration for up to 60k liters (100k without fish), I figured two to three of...

Belgium weather blows - ideas on what to stock outside

I'm really not much of a cold water guy, I don't know many of them, but I figured whatever lives in the US is not gonna survive the winter, then I realized you guys have a border with canada that goes way beyond freezing. :P I like pikes, I would love basses (there are some in michigan that...

Belgium weather blows - ideas on what to stock outside

Hey guys :) As we are about to buy a house with a big land, I already started making plans for an outside pond, in the range of 100000L/26000G. I have to factor cost, plans, maintenance, and i'm still pretty clueless about most of that, but it's been a long time plan, except... I don't like...

    Fish capability??

So you so happened to move at the exact same location where you were going to get a channa stewartii from? Interesting. Either way, your dorado is going to bully and kill the channa. if it doesn't, when the micro reaches sexual maturity, your dorado is going to be found in all corners of your...

Sounds about right. As metabolism slows, make sure to feed less or they might build up fat.

    Rainbow snakehead info help

Congrats on your first snakehead! :) Food wise, they tend to eat insects in the wild, so a diet of insects and worms (blood worms are fine when young) twice a day is alright. As they mature and in winters, you should feed once every other day, or every three days when your water drops below...

    Channa Marulioides blue variant?

Honestly don't know. I don't believe I'd ever heard of blue marulioides. I did notice the same kind of color in a manacapuru angelfish a week after I changed lights.

    February 2019 POTM! Vote now!

I guess #2 could work for different reasons. It's a great shot. Less about the picture composition, more like shooting a bird the second it hits the water surface. :)

    February 2019 POTM! Vote now!

I dislike salt, I'm really not interested into it. With that being said, #1 remains the best composition, the most natural looking, and as someone said earlier, makes you wonder if it's taken in the wild or in a tank. If this was TOTM i'd vote otherwise, but for POTM it's definitely #1.
