Believe me i can see how that could happen. Not very active in the tank. Almost gave them away a few times. Just too damn stubborn to admit I couldn't get the shot. lol Thanks brother. Took a while but worth the wait.

Today in the Fishroom ~ Gymnogeophagus balzani

Gymnogeophagus balzani. I’ve had this fish for several years. During that time, I’ve never been able to get it out in the open for photos. Finally broke down and put in four tinfoil barbs as dithers. Took a couple weeks, but finally tonight started cruising the tank. The female is below guarding...

Today in the Fishroom ~ Parachromis dovii “Red”

New photos of big red. Parachromis Dovii “red morph. They haven't bred in a long time. The male is just too nasty. Couple days the female hung out on the nasty side. Noticed she did have eggs. Saw her moving the eggs deeper into the pipe. I do believe the male no longer fits inside. Then last...

Today in the Fishroom ~ Monster Amatitlania nigrofasciata "Platinum"

Check out this platinum lunker, Amatitlania nigrofasciata. I have three of them this size. As a reference for size, my photo tank is nine inches wide. A year ago I emptied a 220 gallon tank and restocked it with Convict cichlids and HRP's. Easier to maintain and entertaining to watch...

Triple Crown Convention - Centrals ruled the day!

Greetings fish peeps. Not sure if anyone attended the convention this year. It hosted four national clubs. ACA, American Live Bearers, Killifish, and ANG-FA (Austrailian New Guinea Fish Assn.) Cool event. Huge attendance. Wated to share my photo entries. I won first, second and third place...

    RIP Wayne Leibel

I guess this could be in a different forum, but most who knew him will be here. So sad to hear that the hobby has lost a real pioneer and, for me, a very good friend. If you've been in the hobby for a while and in particular, keeping large cichlids, you probably have heard the name Dr. Wayne...

Red Tiger Motaguense - Rio Blanco

You are correct on collection points. We specifically targeted that tributary for this fish, credited with being “more colorful” than other in the same species. Funny story...we arrived, and my first dip of the net I scooped up a 12” male. What a surprise. I have the photo somewhere. It was my...

    Can anyone ID these rescues?

Not sure about the first couple, but from what I can see, the bottom might be V. briedohri. Again...as it grows out it may look more like a mutt, but as of now, the head shape and that small splash of color around the eye and head says Briedohri(ish)
