    Stunting

This entire thread hurts my brain, and has lowered my opinion of humanity in general. And further: 1. Don't call out your parents, especially on the internet. Show some respect. 2. To everyone replying that your dad is stupid, etc - you show some respect as well. Maybe I'm just starting to...

Got my first arowana. What should be the basic do's & dont's

Tight fitting lid is a must, make sure it is secure or weighted down as well. Yes, it will jump. Not an if, but a when. I fed mine pellets and the occasional market shrimp, grew like a weed. Ive heard of people keeping something like a ping pong ball floating in the tank to prevent drop-eye...

    FH not interested in earthworm

staying on pellets is the easiest and possibly best idea. if you do insist on switching it over to earthworms, you may need to starve it. also, feed the earthworms the pellets that the fish is currently eating - at least this way it should get the extra nutrition from the pellets as well.

Fish keep dying every two days. Thought tanks was cycled.

What type of lighting? How long is your light cycle? How much flow is running through the tank? Is it located in a high traffic or noise area? Do you have any hiding spots for the fish (even a piece of abs pipe)?

    Fish Hobby Worst Nightmare

Ahhh, a broken brace? Annoying... I once woke up to my reef tank full of what looked like milk. An anemone grenaded overnight and fouled everything, everything died except for 2 fish. My oldest kid's betta died while we were away on vacation, had someone feeding the tanks while we were gone...

    Murderer on the loose

If I had to venture a guess I'd blame the triggers or the puffer, but as has been mentioned, that's a lot of aggressive fish. If it were the eel, I think you'd realize it fairly quickly, they tend to destroy things... Also, physical damage does not necessarily need to happen in order for a...

Fish are dieing after water changes

As stated already, using straight RO is not the best idea. Also, what temperature is the "warm" water going through your RO unit? This may be a factor, as heat affects the filtration process. If you were having this problem before switching to RO, were you using dechlorinator?

License and Requirements for Breeding and Selling Fish

From what I see, he has added positive input, and has attempted to help. You are the one that is seemingly getting offended over what amounts to nothing. Maybe indicate what research you've already done next time? We can't read minds. And yes, I've seen the posts in the "bag your own fish"...

    Cycled in 1 day?!

If you've used bottled bacteria, yes, it is possible. The colonies that are present may not be able to support a large bioload, though, so introduce new fish slowly. From what I understand, the water itself holds minimal bacterial colonies. The majority are located on solid surfaces (glass...

The fight for a fish tank

This, right here. You've left a bad impression with them. I'd say the best way to get back in their good books is to start small (under 10 gallons) and prove that you can handle it. And of course, their house, their rules. If they say no, then accept it and move on. Don't pester and annoy...

    Moving house

i have the feeling driving with a 5 foot tank, even partially full of water, is a bad idea. if possible: set up a temporary tank at the new place, and either fully cycle or instant cycle using bacterial supplement, and let the temperature stabilize transport just the fish (in a cooler or...

Marineland Aquarium Bacteria and 5 fish cycling

i've never had problems standing up new tanks using seachem stability to "instant cycle". guessing the marineland stuff is more or less the same concept. just keep an eye on parameters, but it should be fine. definitely agree with adding some media from a cycled tank, at the very least it...

Removing black trim from top of tank.

Ive done some reading on this a while back, and if i recall correctly, it could/does generally work, but the trim aids in the support of the aquarium (and the glass is likely thinner than optimal due to this added safety factor). Also probably depends on the size/height of the tank you are...
