    My 720 Gallon Plywood Build

@davenmandy, those dimensions are pretty nice to work with. Makes everything nice and simple. @JohnTr, you could always build the tank like an actual wall, and put insulation in to keep the heat in the tank..It might cost a bit more, but the tank would hold heat a lot better.

    My 720 Gallon Plywood Build

@JohnTr, why would the temperature affect the building process for you?
  5. Big Fish Freak

    My 720 Gallon Plywood Build

@JohnTr, Probably the best part about the build is that my garage in the winter, is under direct sunlight, and stays warm, and in the summer, the sun is directly over the back of the house, keeping it cool. It's purely chance that it worked out that way, but it did and I'm glad it did..

using stainless steel for a monster build? is it dumb?

So this is just a thought on my end, but have any of you heard of a product called Plasti Dip? If not just youtube it and you will see what I am talking about. In this situation it could prove very useful. If you are worried about the stainless steel leeching anything into the water if it makes...

    NEED HELP ASAP!

I think you will be just fine. Just be sure to rotate the tank around AFTER you leak test it. Hahaha I dont think you will run into that problem though, looks like you did a really good job with this one.

    My 720 Gallon Plywood Build

@dragonfish1ca, yes, the frame is simply ripped 2x4's that were glued into place and also screwed into the tank itself. On the vertical pieces, I screwed them into each side iin an alternating pattern. So the top screw is on the front face, and then the next screw is on the short side of the...

    NEED HELP ASAP!

IMO, the piece of glass won't be necessary, and it might get in the way of the bead of silicone you put on the inside of the tank. But that is just me. I have never used that method with a new piece of glass in the corner, so I can't say anything from experience with that. All I know about is...

    My 720 Gallon Plywood Build

@harris522, yes it is 2 milk crates stacked on top of each other, and that may change as time goes on to 3 crates, but for now the two works wonderfully. It's really very simple on what is in there, just two different sized poly pads to catch debris, ceramic rings under them for bio, and then...

    NEED HELP ASAP!

yeah sounds good. I used the marineland brand aquarium epoxy and only gave it 24 hours before filling, and it worked out well for me so you should have no issues. Acetone dries pretty quickly, especially when it is wiped on a surface. Keep us posted and make sure you put fish in your tank that...

    My 720 Gallon Plywood Build

@pdandy, thanks! I hope the next one is as cool as this one too. It's gonna be going in my store behind the counter, and have windows on the front and one short side, so you get two different viewing angles. But this is all in the planning process right now..it might just end up being like one...

    NEED HELP ASAP!

@USMCSS just make sure you dry all the acetone before applying silicone, and just get it in as far as you can, clamping it down will force it in any direction it can go, and if it can't fit somewhere, there wasn't anywhere for it to go. That plan is solid. In that picture it looks like there is...

    My 720 Gallon Plywood Build

I already have plans started for a much larger one, and I am gonna be starting on that one pretty soon here. Yeah I hear ya on the temps. Luckily where my house is located the sun keeps my garage warm enough and cool enough to not need heaters or chillers.. Thanks! I want to do some scaping...

    My 720 Gallon Plywood Build

That is what I said when I finished it and sat down and looked at it. Total build time was about only like 45 days including waiting for things to dry and a week for the glass to adhere to the front panel. But, due to things like life, work, and a small leak after the first week of holding...
