If it is just around the overflow box I dont believe you need thick Weldon because the pressure inside and outside the overflow box are the same if your standpipe is high enough. It is more so to seal the box and hold it in place

Thos tank is acrylic is it not? If so get some Weldon and go around all the seems of the overflow box

K1 never has to be cleaned. Don' get me wrong I love the bio home, if I was going to buy media again it would be k1 all the way

I have used both. I would go with the k1

Can we see a picture of the sump when you get it? I would do with a k1 filter and use course sponge on the inlet and outlet of the chamber to keep the k1 in the chamber

If I paint a tank again I'm going to use acrylic paint in the bottle thay is for crafts and such. It rolls on easy and can be peeled off easy if you change your mind.

If the tank is not tempered I would build a sump honestly. It can be done for under the price of the fx4.

Are you going to have your filtration under the tank or in another room? Different ways to do it depending on what you are do

Keep what you have and save the cash for a bigger setup. If your parameters are good there is no need to change anything
