Confessions of a Monster Fish Keeper

This is excellent! .....and so humble. That's cool. Can't imagine the food bill on this lot! & I'm only on post 240! It keeps getting better...... If I'm ever on any coast of America, please, I'd have to see whatever was nearby. You know, if you're about. Nice return to Fishkeeping...

Can I put 125 gallon tank on its front to paint back?

I stood my tank on its end in the garden for one year. While I got my fish house sorted. (It's a bit over 125g @210) It probably weighs in at 350kgs empty. Lay it on two lengths of timber and pack timber with cloth (dust sheets or whatever, bed sheets will do.) Just support the edges, rather...

    Glass Thickness for New Aquarium.

My tank is only just smaller than this, 1000 litre on paper. I used 12mm all around. It is 64"x 33 &1/2" x 28" Not much different, the braces are only 1&1/2" into the top. Braces are 4" 12mm. Base is twin skin 12mm. Running for well over 6 years...... No leaks or bursts! I designed and built it...

Blimey! Had a goldfish "6 month special" tank as a kid. Became a spider hutch....... Then March 2005, I'm back into Fishkeeping and I've been suffering multi tank syndrome ever since. Never had 40 tanks! I look after a decent size 6x2x2 off site plus my own fish house. Currently I've more...

Anybody have experience using butt joints on large glass aquarium?

Maybe 15-50G tanks on a production line, yes, but every now and then you must get something really exciting to do! (on site MONSTERS) Im actually genuinely interested in those types of builds, they represent a certain challenge! The tank itself is just part of the problem. I would quite like to...

Is this adequate for 1 betta per cube

Betta trio These things are back to front! The filter is set up so you have; Flow into filter chamber from tank, ceramics then carbon, a space, sponges x2, another space flow pump. either space is for the heater. The whole filter section is baffled. (not mine but I help set one up) filter...

New Oscar Owner in the North

Can't believe you've had no replies! im sure I've read that prime can give false readings, but I can't confirm this as I've not used it. nitrite/nitrate, yes it's a good sign! It means the cycle is happening! eventually you should see 0ammonia 0nitrite and 0+ nitrate. (not sure how prime...

Building My 50,000 Gallon Monster Mega Tank

Post 65, "There are many people with large tanks out there. I hesitated to show the pics before on a wide basis just like they don't because I did not want to look like I was showing off. I've done it now not to brag or show off but because I hope it will encourage others to build large tanks...

That's beyond cool! (about halfway in, when the fish get used to you, wow) I'd sure go swimming if I had a long tank! i can only imagine the look, you're in the store, looking at a fish, "so how bigs your tank sir" "well, I swim in it!"

    Primary seal question

Hi, I've built a few tanks (not a pro) but they worked! if the glass is sharp (rough cut unfinished) you can use a Diamond file or Diamond Honing pad/stone to break the edge (not a break like a crack but a break edge chamfer) The last build I made had a missing bit in the corner and it leaked...

The one with the orange spot, that's the duplicate Cory, corydoras duplicareus. C. agassizi or C. ambiacus are nice looking. C. agassizii by Nano Second Artist, on Flickr While I've listed it as agassizii it's most likely ambiacus, according to the description the blue cheeks are the give...
