    DIY 10gal Sump

My rule of thumb is to make the chambers big enough to fit my hand/fist in easily... It makes cleaning easier.

    New Home for Pacu

Plywood is the way to go IMO. There are a couple of threads on the forum about 8' plywood tanks. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88734&page=9 and My 300 Gallon. There is a lot of info on construction in these two alone. Tips: #1. Do at least 2 layers of Fiberglass mat...

    300 Gallon Plywood tank build

The stock list of this tank isn't quite what I planned on, but I suppose one never knows when keeping monster fish with monster personalities. I originally wanted the Aro, CK, Oscar and catfish in the 300Gallon, but the Oscar was just too aggressive. So he got moved to my 80Gal tank and the...

    Glass As Liner???

This question has been around the block a couple of times now. I myself have asked it. When we discussed it last time round, it was decided that the main problem is that the plywood isn't perfectly flat. It has little bumps and imperfections all over. Thus, Point Pressure on the surface of the...

Can someone tell me what this is?

     Tell me more. I haven't heard of something like tis yet.!? It does look like a tubular projection from a plant root, but I have no live plants in the tank.

Can someone tell me what this is?

I don't stock snails, so that clears that. But I do feed them shrimp. This thing was just a little bigger than a shrimp though... Plus I cut the shrimp up before I feed them. I tried to google "clear brown slimy sack", but alas I didn't find anything resembling this...

Can someone tell me what this is?

oh, and the tank is pretty clean. The sump has been running for about 3 months now and the tank has been running (hooked to the sump) for almost 2 months. There is minimal alge growth in the tank. All three windows are spotless.

Can someone tell me what this is?

 I don't think it's a FW Jellyfish It's too soft and slimy to be either, plus none of the tank occupants are big enough for it to be any sort of external part of their bodies. None of the fish show signs of injury either. It seems to be too organic to be just sludge. The tank isn't...

Can someone tell me what this is?

Here's a photo of some sort of sack I found drifting around in my 300G tank. I only realized I should have put something next to it for size reference once I threw it away. :irked: It's about 2" wide and about 1" across. Its definitely biological, but none of the tank inhabitants seemed...

    300 Gallon Plywood tank build

Hey guys, I thought I'd share this shot of my tank's moonlights. I think it looks pretty cool. The lids are open because I had to patch a couple of spot on the lids with epoxy.

Glass max height in plywood tank building

Rent the movie Poseidon on DVD, watch the extras... They have something like 90 000 gallons of water held back by 1/2" tempered glass. They actually had to blow the glass with remote fuses... Was very cool to watch. The movie is not so great.

    to build or buy??

I say if you have to ask; "build or buy?", buy the tank. Like most people will tell you, you only really start saving money on larger tanks (300g up) if you go the plywood route. But you spend a lot of hours building a ply tank. If you like building stuff with your hands and you have the...

    300 Gallon Plywood tank build

Thought I would do a quick update on this thread. Here is how the tank looks at the moment. The second background is in and repaired. I'm planning on curing the backgrounds for 2 weeks before I'll attempt putting in any fish. This is a pic of a 300gph pump behind one of the backgrounds...

    300 Gallon Plywood tank build

Well that would depend on the dimensions of the tank. Uhm... No. hehe, that would be mad! Well the stock list includes the following so far; 1 x Aro 1 x CK 1 x Oscar 2 x Plecs 1 x Lima (which I'm still trying to find in my LFSs) And I'm still deciding on whether or not I'll put my 4...
