    The "one inch per gallon" rule

    This makes much more sense than the "normal" way this rule is always applied, i have never met anyone that calculated it this way though. Also i have seen that even some small fish need a huge territory and can be very agressive (the "lovable" platy :shakehead ) and some bigger fish can do...

    * Jan POTM Poll * OVERLOAD *

    The one i voted for is probably not winning, but i liked it best. It's number 1. I liked 40 but did not vote for it because part of the fish is not on it, the fish itself is beautiful though. The other picture i liked but did not vote for is number 25, beautiful picture too, so if any of these...

    SELF SUSTAINING INDOOR POND

    This is really cool, to set up an ecosystem. The big question for me is this: how do you have algae to feed them, but keep in controll of those algae? Because i agree on the nessecety of having them. But if you want to have them without our pond turning into a sump, then what must you do?

    piranha(redbelly) what can stand up to them ???

    In the wild they share their rivers with a variety of fish, though, and apparantly for some neon tetras work and for some they won't last for 5 minutes. Could that be because when you add something they always consider your presence as feeding time? If you put in the tetras a few days before...

    How important is gravel

    Right now i have a small tank, and after seeing some bare bottoms :D i took out thz gravel. I let the green algae install to cover the bottom, and clean the poo more often. The fish behave happier, so i do think it does make a difference. Also, now i can see what i am doing when i clean and...

    Got my first Flowerhorn today

    Maybe he didn't sell that well because the markings on the left and right hand side are so different, although maybe that is normal for Flowerhorns, i'm not an expert. But i sure like the markings on the left hand side. And the overall colour.

    Yea Man Cool! or NOT?

    Like most people that started an aquarium under kid-presure, i first had one of those plastic things, plus a plastic plant, of course, in the tank. Then i showed my daughter pictures of what a river looks like under water, and she was ok with it to move the crap and get plants and wood :) now...
