    Help ick Infestation!!!!

Hikari just came out with their Ich x SW version a few months ago. It is reef safe and seems to be the best reef safe med out there at the moment. It has Formaldehyde in it, which works great on Parasites. I have tested it on inverts and corals and everything has done well with it.

    Coral Reef Lighting

I believe the 24" bulbs are 29 watts each. Ideally you want 3-4 watts per gallon for a reef tank. I have used geisman bulbs in the past and I currently run wavepoint bulbs. You want to look at the lumens output of the bulbs you are using. I would look into a 4 bulb unit.

    Live Rock Online?

Flying it in is expensive. I have a supplier that flies it in every once and a while, but it is more expensive. If you get the box and the rock is black and smells like an ammonia factory, it was on a boat. I have never bought from them, so I do not know what they do. Not sure where in North...

    Live Rock Online?

Most likely you will not fit all 45 lbs in the cube, so the rest will be wasted. Depending on the rock type will determine the amount you can fit. I usually fit around 20 lbs of fiji rock in a 29 cube and around 15 lbs of Vanuatu Rock in the cubes. If you buy Fiji have it shipped fedex/UPS...

looking to get a SW tank..... HQI, LED,moded?..... please help!

if you put in a 20K, I think you will be fine with most of the corals. The top is not open, it is glass. I have had no issue with the temp. There are no more bioballs, as they made that chamber for a fuge with the window in the back. Problem is most people put it up against a wall, therfore...

looking to get a SW tank..... HQI, LED,moded?..... please help!

I have the new oceanic 29 HQI set up at my shop. It runs good and the corals seem to do well in the tank. Only thing I would do is change out the 14K with a 20K. 14K is to white for me. Honestly it will depend on what corals you want to keep. 90% of the corals do not need MH to look good.

    sick clown fish

Sounds like clownfish disease (Brooklynella) Mimics Odinium, but the major difference is the thick slime coat on the fish. It can kill quickly if not caught in time. http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/ichparasiticdiseases/a/aabrooklynella.htm

82 Sp. of corals may be banned in the near future

I'm not sure on the Aquacultured side on a commercial level. Obviously if hobbyist have them already, they will still be traded to other hobbyist. Let's face it though Aquacultured corals make up a small fraction of the corals in the trade at this time. If WC Sp were banned, then in theory the...

    Kudos to N-E Cichlids!!!

Thanks for the kind words. I'm always around to help if I can. I am far from being an expert in SW or FW for that matter, but I have learned the hard way more than once. I know what it is like to be so frustrated and want to pack it up, but thankfully I had friends around who stepped in and...

    ID please?

They say peppermint shrimp eat it, but in my experience you have to starve them to get them to eat it. Peppermint shrimp have also been know to eat corals from time to time, so you have to watch out for that. On the flipside copperband butterflies will eat aptasia, but will nip at corals...
