Zero Nitrates, no water change,. This is aquarium 2021.

I have a few more questions as I get closer to trying this: Does it matter if the reactor goes before or after the bio media? I know some anaerobic bacteria feeds off of ammonia, so it has to go before the bio media. Do you find that flow matters? What dosage/amount of biochar would you...

Are there any special requirements to set this up, or is it just biochar in a standard reactor? How often do you have to replace it?

For Sale  14-18" Papyrocranus afer // Pom Pom Knife

This afer was originally purchased in december 2018 from fugupuff as a 10" showpiece quality fish, but unfortunately I've decided that I want to change up the stock on my 210, and he has to go. I need to get a couple of fish to help turnover the sand and clean up the algae, but the ones I have...

    Denitrification.

@twentyleagues Where did you find laterite for you biocenosis basket? My understanding is that laterite is only needed for the iron content, so shouldn't any iron rich/redish orange aquarium substrate work? Given that laterite is so hard to find, I was looking into other alternatives such as...

    Denitrification.

For those of you who have experimented with bocenosis baskets, have they required any maintenance or dosing? Also, I found a brand of bacteria that claims to have denitrifying bacteria in addition to nitrifying...

    Denitrification.

That's half the fun of it; Innovations aren't made by using old technology. I will definitely look into that though, as I didn't realize you could automate your system to that degree with a sulfur denitrator. Do you need a reactor, or can I just throw a couple liters of media into a pvc pipe?
