Thank you, it was a long term process and the pictures where the zenith of that process . Sadly my fahaka died 2 months while I was in holiday and now I am in reboot, based around the emperor and a black wolf fish. But it just goes to show what can be done

Emperors make amazing large oddball tank occupants! Yes they have individual personalities but mine is a pussy cat.. hungry as if it’s food size it’s gone but otherwise a lovely addition. Here is mine with MH old fahaka and CA cichlids

This was him this morning.. looks like he is looking for food but not ready to commit to feeding

He is still hiding behind the bog wood and not eating. His colours darkened significantly today and he moved about a bit more but he is still not eating.. despite me dropping morio worms on his head. But he has a sun catfish that routinely sleeps with him so I cannot see him becoming a killer...

Okay, update I got a 10 inch Hoplias Curupiru! He went in the 220g on Wednesday.. he had a bit of a run in with the emperor but no harm done and he has made a little nest behind a large piece of bog wood till he settles. No injuries to any other fish, most of whom have come and introduced...

Emperors are quite peaceful with other large fish, it’s not overly territorial and it quite disinterested in the other fish. The only problem child is the Red Devil who has become a bit of a knob since the re-scape! Only had the emperor since Christmas so not to long

That is one is the weirdest and grossest things I have things I have ever heard of in fishkeeping!! And I have seen my fahaka eat a live snakehead face first!

i have kept a huge fahaka before so I know they can be resilient, but I have been told that they are very susceptible to being bullied, not prefect water quality, diet etc and can just stop eating and die.. after my fahaka died I can’t have another wet pet die on me

Tank re-scape done! Finally... now decision time!

Tank re-scape... going to try and do a amazon spear on the far left and a hanging garden on the big wood on the far right... hopefully will be a ‘natural’ habitat for what ever I end up getting.. thanks as always
