    Mysterious white growth

Day 3 of the sulfa and kana and I haven't had a death in 2 days. Hopefully that's a good sign. A majority of the fish are free from disease, id say probably 90%, there are however still maybe about 10 fish with white on them. Hopefully I saved them, I guess time will tell

    Mysterious white growth

Alright I tested the water and it's around 8.2 Had about 10 dead this morning, did another water change and I got the kanaplex in today so I started it again. A lot of fish still look unaffected but the ones that do have the patches I doubt will survive. Hopefully I can save the ones that...

    Mysterious white growth

What would be the reason to lower aeration? Bacteria thrive in high oxygen or what? Just curious

    Mysterious white growth

I'll double check the hardness today. Yes there is still the spots on the fins. The large white patches on the body don't really seem fuzzy, hard to explain. Like mentioned before where the white spots are the scales are missing, it's also very slimey, and the slime has a very distinct odor to...

    Mysterious white growth

So in your opinion do you think it's columnaris?

    Mysterious white growth

To my knowledge columnaris is gram negative, so theoretically the sulfaplex should work because it treats gram negative bacteria as well as fungus and (anaerobic) I believe?

    Mysterious white growth

Ammonia readings have been high since the furan was added. Fish are not showing any signs of ammonia poisoning, no coming to the top, no abnormal colored gills, no cloudy eyes... so I'm thinking it's a false reading due to the high dosage of prime. I have been doing partial wc twice a day and...

    Mysterious white growth

I've been dosing 4x the normal dose of prime

    Mysterious white growth

I didn't transfer the bio media because I have 60+ gallons of it and really nowhere to store it. And if I put it another tank it would infect other tanks right? I'm hoping the sulfa and kana will do it this time... if not I'll try the furan again. thats if they make it that long

    Mysterious white growth

Been adding salt and stress coat. Also been keeping the water as clean as possible, partial water changes daily after meds were done

    Mysterious white growth

I have tilapia in this tank also and they seem to be unaffected by whatever this is. Don't know if that helps?

    Mysterious white growth

Alright well bad news. I had my first death today, actually 3. The kanaplex seemed the most effective but once the treatment was done it seems like it began to spread again. Now there's probably 20 with large white patches that I can see. I got more kanaplex on order and I'm also gonna try...

    Mysterious white growth

Ammonia was at .5 yesterday. I did about a 30 percent water change and added prime to neutralize the ammonia.

    Mysterious white growth

Alright, just a little update. I dosed the second dose of the kanaplex and I definitely think they are looking better. There seems to be less fish with white spots and the fish that do have white on them the white seems to be be going away. I did notice on one or two fish there are larger...

Get Pond Fish To Live In Tanks

I catch mine from the rivers. I think it stresses them out a lot and causes them to get infected easier

Get Pond Fish To Live In Tanks

The bottom two are columnaris.... the top three are a bacterial infection. I'm treating the fish in the top three with kanaplex right now and it seems to be working

Get Pond Fish To Live In Tanks

Do they happen to look liKe this?
  20. Y

    Mysterious white growth

I think the kanaplex might be working! It's hard to see all the fish because they like to hide but from the fish I can see it doesn't seem to be spreading or getting worse like it was yesterday. Still too early to tell for sure but I definitely have my fingers crossed.... I have stress coat on...
