I hope I got this right. I attempted my first venting today. I couldn’t make out what the flowerhorn was but the Texas is clearly female. Which makes no sense why she was the one courting and dancing around for the flowerhorn in a mating attempt. I would appreciate it if anyone can help out...

The chipokae don’t seem to bother the Texas nor the flowerhorn. But you are right. They are menacing especially to other fish around their size. I will attempt to vent the flowerhorn either today or tomorrow. Will keep you all posted.

Thanks Stephen It's very strange seeing their behavior where all 3 are taking care of the eggs. I don't know what their deal is but it's fun to watch. I also don't know if both males fertilized the eggs or just one.

I came home today to find that 3 Flowerhorn fish I have have “paired” up and spawned. My guess is that they are 2 makes and 1 female. They are all protecting the eggs and each other. This is very unusual to me and want to get peoples thoughts....

Thanks for all your replies. I suspect red devil hybrid too. The structure of the face does have some resemblance to a Texas but the colour is very much a red devil trait.... I guess I will just have to wait and see what comes of it. Thanks.
