What kind of growth rates do you see on these? Say starting with a 1" youngin, how long would it take to be a 10-12" adult(on average)? Im liking this idea now. Y'all seem to be pretty intrigued by these fish

Would you say they are fun fish to keep? After seeing this, it has me wanting(thinking) about going out to the lake to catch some brown bullhead or waiting till spring to find hatchlings

If your fish went from 2" to 12 in 2 months at least part of what you're doing is right lol. Ive had my rtc since september, got it at 2" and he is only 9" to date. I wish mine had that kind of a growth rate haha.

From what ive read, its actually quite common and advised to give RTC fruits & nuts as in the wild these cats are omnivores and pretty much take down anything that crosses their path including fruits and nuts that may fall into the water.

One of the dwarf species correct? Known to be tough to get onto frozen, hope yours proves otherwise! Looks great.

Definitely took a lot of trial and error but those fish are worth it, seahorses are sweet too. I had a breeding colony of pygmies in a 55 hex that was directly fed into a 300g rubbermaid refugium that i pulled my pods from. The endless stream of live mysids and pods made that seahorse tank...

Every fish was different, I had roughly 45 fish trained by the time i stopped doing it, only about 3 of those wouldn't take pellets when i was done with them. But on average I had a turnover rate of about 2 months with each fish. Had an 8 tank system, 4 for mandarins and 4 for breeding banggai...

My second favorite fish of all time after the Banggai Cardinalfish. I used to buy starving mandarins from my LFS, train them onto frozen and pellets and sell them to hobbyists who couldn't sustain an untrained mandarin. Ive got a huge soft spot for these fish lol.

Here in michigan we have them in some of our lakes and ponds. I go to central michigan university and ponds on campus have these fw "jellies" in them. They are super cool

This has always been a pet peeve of mine haha, technically they are mandarin dragonets and not gobies.

Do you want the fish to survive or to thrive? Sure there may be occurences of them surviving in freshwater, but they wont be as hardy or healthy. If you cant give a fish its proper environment then the fish really shouldnt be bought. Just my opinion.

Go fishin, catch a bunch of baitfish(bluegill/perch/etc) and freeze em and feed as needed

Ich will persist for 6-8 weeks in it's larval planktonic form, moving your fish to qt for 10 days and then back into a tank full of ich won't solve anything
