    Datnoids Bickering

Should I just take divider out and let them have at it. I believe when they get bigger the aggressiveness will start to dwindle down

    Datnoids Bickering

Lots of driftwood rocks and places to hide but the most aggressive one keeps other two behind hob filters especially during feeding. Right now two big ones behind divider.. ones at the top pointing up aggressive one at bottom under driftwood. Small one happy on other side.

    Datnoids Bickering

Little help here.. I have 3 Indo Dats that were all 2 inches when I bought them. Now 2 are 4.5 inches and eating pellets and black worms and the 3rd one is 2.5 inches and only eats worms. The two bigger ones fight each other continuously and they take turns hammering the small one especially...

Adding new Dats with established Dat

So I ended up having to put a divider in my 150. One Dat, the dominant one has1/4 of the tank and the other dat, my Black Ghost, Arrowana and Pleco has the rest. What use to be the dominant 2.5in Dat now hides and is chased by the 3.5 but he’s ok.. he’s strong and comes out when hungry and...

Can you find the difference between borneo & sumatra datnoid ?

You know it really doesn’t matter where or what names you put on Datnoids. I’ve had groups of 5 or 6 since I was 19 and I’m 70 now. Their was Siamese Tigers, Silver or gold..That’s It period. All the hype and popularity has made a fish not caught in in the US a big money maker. There was no...

    Thinning out

You’re right.. noticed the Jardini unlike Silver Arowanas was hanging around the bottom getting close to smaller indo dats and a big dat would chase him off.. One time he grabbed my smallest Dat and they were spinning and rolling around till jardini let him go. Then I noticed my pleco who I...

    Thinning out

So its come to this.. Seven Dats, 5 inches to 3inches, 2 small red Oscars and a 3.5 in Jardini in a 135g. I got a package deal on the Dats that's why so many. I have a divider in with Dats separated so I can take a good look at color and characteristics. Seems the one 5in that has best color is...

    No more Datnoids

So I mentioned putting a divider in my 135g .. bought a baby Jardini arrowana and put him on the small side for his safety.. put one of my 3in dats in with him.. the dat swam around, ate, beautiful color all with lights on or off.. then I put him back in with the other 6 dats he turned dark, hid...

    No more Datnoids

From what I’ve experienced.. adding tankmates will increase activity but won’t stop the “bullying “.. the larger Dat will chase all other Dats away at feeding time while tankmates eat..but will not bully tank mates. He got that big by eating the most, he’s always first to hide when lights come...

    No more Datnoids

Another reason the biggest is always chasing the others is food.. he wants to get all rights to anything on the bottom that wasn’t eaten. Mine beards the other 2 big ones to the top of the tank but ignore the small ones.

    No more Datnoids

Mine do that too.. tried separating the big boss but next biggest started bullying.. I guess that’s why there’s a size difference., mine were the same size when purchased, 3 grew fast, 2 are trying to keep up and 2 are still small. I just let them do their own thing. Maybe I’ll sell the smaller...

    Datnoid Color.

Years ago an old Chinese guy at a lfs use to sell Siamese Tigers (Dats). He would hold small dats between his pointer finger and thumb and gently squeeze them.. l asked why he was “playing “ with them liked that and he told me it makes them not scary.. he had a small bowl with 3 or 4 dats in it...

    Datnoids and freeze dried shrimp

So (3) out of (7) of my Datnoids are totally pellet trained, and it’s obvious cause they are out growing the (4) that aren’t. The (3) love massivore delight. They are about 4.5 inches..they swim up to grab the big pellets before they get wet. I was breaking the pellets into 4 pieces but I see...

    Marineland HOB Filters

I know how costly it is to buy filter pads for hang on back filters and I know some of us have started making our own, I have. Well I found a place online (Chewys.com) that sells the filter pads cheap. I’m talkin $7.00 for a box of four pads. Not a bad price. Check em out.
