Stock my 300 gallon discus tank :)

Never stated that what I said is gospel, I just stated my experience and how MY discus aren't timid or slow. You may have noticed I never stated anything about your discus as they may very well be a weak variant and hence timid and slow. Ah the "I have kept something for longer than you...

Stock my 300 gallon discus tank :)

That isn't my experience with Discus. Mine are voracious eaters and could compete with anyone for food and I have had monster fish before getting Discus, so I know about voracious eaters. My recommendations would be getting a couple of geo's once the Discus are fully grown. Their constant...

Who's the Jerk, and What to do about it.

Not really surprising. It was our first guess.

    Wild Green Tefe Discus Pair

Every fish gets slightly stressed during water change. However many of us who keep discus, do water changes every other day and the discus do fine with it. If anything, the cleaner you keep the water, the healthier they are and the bigger they grow. If your filter is still showing ammonia...

    New Angelfish suggestions

Red tailed sharks are asses and will eventually bully everyone in the tank, including the angels. As for the Krib, a lot would depend on its personality, but it would probably be fine with the angels. If you notice aggression(once it matures), you can return it. I think the domesticated angels...

    Flowerhorn bumpy kok??

Do not try and change your PH. All that does is stress the fish. Whatever your regular PH is, the fish will adapt to it. As for Nitrates, what filters are you running and how long have you had the tank?

    Shy Red devil

10 years old? How big is the Red Devil? With cichlids all have different personalities and maybe this guy isn't very confident or aggressive.

Stock my 300 gallon discus tank :)

Lot depends on the size of the Discus you plan to buy. If you are buying fully grown Discus, I'd look into adding a shoal of Denisoni Barbs(Redline Barbs) as well as Bosemani Rainbowfish. A shoal of Corry cats are a must as they look fantastic in a Discus tank and you could add a few Geophagus...

    Need African advise for 75g

People usually get an all male Peacock tank as the females are quite bland in color and you need a high female to male ratio to avoid conflict. To achieve this all male tank, you either have to buy them large(already sexed) or be willing to cull the females. Peacocks are fantastic fish and...

    Texas cichlid attacked by flowerhorn.

I'd say QT the texas and try whatever treatment the others recommend. Cichlids sense weakness and the others may very well attack him and finish off the job. Given the extent of the damage, it is hit or miss as to whether he will survive. Keep your fingers crossed and do your best.

    Wild Green Tefe Discus Pair

Not sure Cardinals would help too much. And if they do spawn you would have to net out the cardinals and that would just spook the Discus once again. The ammonia reading is a bit of a concern, also its rare for a tank to have 0 Nitrites. Check the Ammonia once again, randomly to ensure it is...

    Red texas or Flowerhorn?

You can't get another cichlid, they would fight to the death, even if it is another flowerhorn/red texas. Your options are bicher, silver dollars/giant danios or some catfish. Whatever the option chosen, be prepared to remove those fish, if your boy goes after them.

    German Blue Rams

I have one GBR and he is doing fantastically well with my Discus. Quite a stunner and crowd pleaser. The guy won't stay still, so hard to get good pics of him.

    Wild Green Tefe Discus Pair

Discus at times get spooked seeing their own reflections, if they are not used to it. Hence many people either paint the bottom or place a black paper under their tank. The Discus should hopefully settle down soon and adapt to the tank. It usually takes a week before they are used to the new...

My flowerhorn tries to kill me

Petting a fish, while it looks cool, isn't great for the fish as you may removing his protective mucous layer and may transfer an infection on him. Ideally wash your hands with tank water well before attempting to pet him and don't overdo it.

    Wild Green Tefe Discus Pair

Try frozen worm amongst other foods and see what they accept. Give them plenty of water changes. As for the PH. Be careful when messing with PH as fish, especially Discus prefer consistent PH, rather than ideal PH. If that PH keeps moving up and down while your trying to achieve the 6 PH, it...

    Uaru Group

You can move the tank decorations around which would enable a smooth transition for the new comers. You would have to quarantine the new fish to avoid introducing any infections to your old fish and also the numbers you can add to a tank depend on the size of your tank.

My flowerhorn tries to kill me

Every cichlid has a different personality. Some are super friendly to their owners, others want to attack anything in sight. Seems you have one of the latter ones. Doubt you can change him, unless he mellows with age.

What’s going on with my flowerhorn?

Post pictures of the fish with the white spots. If you didn't wash those plants in bleach or potasium permagnate, you may have introduced in an infection and the little guy may have ick.

    Angelfish Pair & Bolivian Rams

Yup Rams would do fine with Angels. However keep in mind that Rams need very clean water, so ensure adequate filtration and regular water changes.
