    Trimac with?

Then I would go for a Motaguensis, for the simple thing that a festae is south american, not central american.

    First nest of Trimac juvies

Just before i took the first picture I told them they had to go on a diet for a few weeks, that's why they are looking that angry at me.

    First nest of Trimac juvies

They were already breeding in the tank at the fish store. They aren’t full on color yet, maybe as well because they are in a quite dark breeding tank. The father just recovered 2 months ago from columnaris didease which still shows some markings.

    First nest of Trimac juvies

Was able to save and raise a few of the first nest of my Amphilophus Trimaculatus couple. Now between 2 and 3 inch an already starting to be real little bastards. Next nest started freeswimming a week ago, hopefully more survivors than the 13 little buggers from the first nest

    Jaguar fry dying

Might be. I see big differences of growth between batches. The batch from 9-10 weeks ago reached 0,8-1,5 cm the first month after they started free swimming. The batch from 5 weeks ago is still in the breeding tank now and is only half that size after a month. I decided not to take them out, to...

    Jaguar fry dying

I had a similar problem in the beginning. But now they understand that they are supposed to raise the fry. Even when the next batch of eggs are wigglers it’s no problem. Once the new nest starts freeswimming they will eat the bigger ones of the best before. But by that time I’ve netted them out

    Jaguar fry dying

Lol, i had convicts indeed. Putting a male and female together will end up with fry. But once Jaguars are paired up they are just as bad

    Jaguar fry dying

Ended up with around 100 of them little buggers... half of them already have new homes. Still around 50 left between 1 and 2,5 inch. They will go to the fish store when they are a little bigger. And they keep on spawning... Better call them “rabbit cichlids” instead of Jaguar cichlids ;-)

    What disease might this be?

Might be the right decision to treat for bacterial infection. After a 45 minute bath in strong baktopur solution and then in tank with normal dose the wound is already less swollen and seems to start healing. Yesterday I didn’t think there was any possibility for the fish to survive. Today I do...

    What disease might this be?

Well it’s a start, thanx! strange thing is that te damage on both fish is in exactly the same spot. Right side of the body, in the center, bottom to back.

    What disease might this be?

Sorry for the bad quality of the picture, but it is in a dark breeding tank. But I think it’s clear what damage the fish has got. two of my trimacs have got the same problem, at first I thought it was damage because of fighting with a breeding male but the female in this picture is separated...

    Jaguar fry dying

Thanx, thats what i did last time, i didn/t realise there were eggs/fry in the tank. I've still got about 15 young ones left ans separated. There is another (huge) badge of wigglers in the jaguar tank right now

    Oscar always facing up

Don't worry! He's just behaving like most oscars. Always hungry and begging for food ;-)

    Red bay snook vs jaguar

If you want to keep the plants: I don't think Jaguars or Festae will leave them. They will shred them. With Petenia Splendida there will be a chance that plants will survive. My Petenia's weren't/aren't agressive at all! I had them as a couple but never had a harem of them

    Jaguar fry dying

Apparently the young parents were still learning. About a month ago they ate the batch of fry once they started free swimming. Last week there were about 50 free swimmers left which they protected. I think I accidentally killed a lot of the batch by catching a couple of Vieja melanura from the...
