Coppersafe and 10.0 ppm phosphate readings

I’ve been treating for ICH with Coppersafe in my 75g for about 11 days now and I’m noticing the P04 readings have been staying 10.+ppms the whole time. I’ve had PhosGuard on the job for the last 3 days with no effect whatsoever. It took almost 8 days at 88 degrees for the ICH bastages to...

Tap water baseline for Ammonia is .50ppm ?

I’ve never done a baseline from the tap for ammonia, till this morning….let me explain. I’ve been monitoring my #s closely so I would know when my Nitrogen cycle is complete. Up to now I figured it wasn’t complete because my NH3s keep showing .50. Right now my N02s are 0.0 and my N03s 5.0ppm...

Oscar, JD, and ??? upcoming 90 gallon tank

Thats def the size of a grown carpintis....they get a greenish blue. The 90 I had was 3ft long which I'm finding even a 4ft long isn't enough room unless as deadeye stated you just go with one. It won't take long for it to get full grown and he'll dominate the tank, likely killing anything else...

Oscar, JD, and ??? upcoming 90 gallon tank

You'd be safer going with a Carpintis which are so close to what a EBJD look that only you would know the difference. I've got two EBAs in which a school of CLs that I'd love to drop a Carpintis in their but that would really pooch the tranquility of the tank even though one of my EBAs is a bit...

Oscar, JD, and ??? upcoming 90 gallon tank

I had a full grown Oscar in a 90 with 3 clown loaches and I couldn't do enough water changes to keep the Nitrates down.....Dempsey absolutely, clown loaches for sure.... Have you considered a Carpintis, they are amazing and that 90 would be an excellent size him by itself. It would be full grown...

Just wanted to show off my oscar

Just perused Ebay and I'm surprised at the selection available. If I had multiple tanks I would be compiling a list. I would love to add a Carpintis with my EBAs and CLs but, I'm pretty sure it would reap havoc and end up killing everything in the tank.

Just wanted to show off my oscar

Until I read about using a net I used to do it with my gravel vac (years ago). Just laying to next to him used to be enough to make him hold still on his side till I was done. Using a net was an exceptional idea.

Just wanted to show off my oscar

I learned about it on this forum. You take a net large enough to cover his entire body and gently move it towards him pushing him into the side of the tank. When he lays on his side with his eye on the net you set the net down against the side handle up, and it keeps him away from you while you...
