This one was completely unlabeled. The shop owner knew I was looking for a yellow king tiger and thought this was it. It had been sitting in the shop for quite a while.

That’s awesome! He’s settling in to the tank now and his color is starting to pop again. I’ll have to get another pic and update it here. I’ve always preferred the greens, but these have really grown on me

Since this thread came back up, here’s Titan again at 230 lbs

I really thought I preferred them with yellow fins but this one with pure white fins looks amazing!

The initial photo is incredibly deceiving. This photo in the reviews gives a much better size reference: At less than 50” tall, I can’t imagine maintenance would be all that bad. It’s advertised as a bar, which would be a clever dual function for someone. Definitely not me though.

Absolutely stunning! I just picked up 5 of these and hope at least one shows the same pattern as yours! I know they change color but I’m really looking for that rusty red center stripe!

Yeah they do look very similar. I really like the hypostomus cochliodon type as well. I’ve always been intrigued by the body shape of the panaque and the pattern of spotted plecos.

6.5” humpback pleco (L50)

I did the same with pvc. A lot more expensive but I was using it for plumbing anyways. And I’m with everyone else on pulling down what you have to in order to get it in. Doors come off easily, tanks can move, and trim comes off walls and doorways for that extra inch or so of wiggle room

Oh shoot, yes that’s the one I meant! Too late to edit of course! My fear was that they lose the blotching and get all brown. How disappointing indeed.

I’m trying to learn more about the L299 “bleached pleco”. Planet catfish says the juvenile color differs “greatly” compared to the adults, but offers no clues as to what the differences are. Does anyone know if these plecos lose their color as they grow? Or do the patterns of the “bleaching”...

I’d say it’s pretty spot on! You were able to find much more than I could.
