    Sand as substrate

I use play sand, and what I do is I put a chopstick on the end of the tube with a rubber band about one inch past the end of the vac opening. I use this to stir up the sand a bit and the vac sucks up the debris. I get a tiny bit of sand, but not enough to worry about.

Bolsonaro, Brazil, The Amazon and Fishkeepers

This is what happens when emotions rule over common sense. A- it's their legally elected officials doing stuff in their own country B- It's easy to get all high and mighty from your fancy computer/phone and tell the peasant classes to eat cake, but they don't have to listen to you C- most...

    What kind of fish?

you are very welcome, I've never kept em, but have been looking at the severums as a centerpiece fish for my 75 gallon tank, but I'm a little sketchy that a 75 gallon is large enough.

    What kind of fish?

That tharr appears to be a red spotted severum. For some reason their heads tend to be a bit "parrotier" than the regular gold, green and red shoulders.

Resource for regional or country of origin for plants?

I am planning an Amazon stream style community 75 gallon tank and was wondering if there was a resource out there that would give me country of origin for plants? (or even a regional origin) I was hoping to keep all the plants from the same region as well as the fish. any help is great, thanx!

    NOTICE

I'm a noob here, and maybe I have missed this facebooking, but I find this such a valuable resource of knowledge I rarely need to post as the answer to my questions is just the search function away! This place is absolutely great for those of us who may know a bit about the care of a few...

    75 Gallon stocking ideas

I'd love to do a puffer, but I'm not willing to do a snail tank or dentistry. I am leaning towards doing an Amazonian stream style thing with plants on each side, and dritwood with angels, tetras and some small apisto/ rams type cichlids to fill it out

    75 Gallon stocking ideas

That's a lot of fish! I may do some version of the above, with Congo Tetras of both types, a bichir, a brown knife, a ctenepoma and maybe a butterfly fish and elephant fish... It really depends on availability and cost and not overtaxing my filtration too.

    75 Gallon stocking ideas

Thanx! Yeah, I was more interested in finding out if my ideas would A- work on an aggression level and B- work on a numbers level. I'm planning on going with two large sponges for filtration + a ton of plants, so I wanted to know if either were doable. I'm so stuck on which to choose tho...

    75 Gallon stocking ideas

I was gifted a 75 gallon tank by a friend cleaning out his attic , it needs re-sealing but is otherwise in good shape. I have a bit of a conundrum when it comes to stocking tho. I've usually kept community tanks of smaller fish in smaller tanks, but in this case I've decided I wanted to do a...

    Howdy folks!

Hi all, I'm a a Mississippi Gulf Coast guy who is a noob to fish forums but not a noob to the hobby. I was a fairly active community tank guy for 20 years until a decade ago where life stepped in and I had to give it up for awhile. Now I'm back with a fun 29 gallon community tank and an urge to...
