Just because different fish live in the same river doesn't mean they are at all compatible as tank mates, would anyone put discus and piraña together? (actually don't answer that...I've seen too much stupidity and already know the answer :) ) and even less compatible are fish from different...

I had the same experience, also with blond knife fish which were really hard to find at that time ( are they still?).......in one evening one ray destroyed my population of about 25...about $2k worth at that time......then my 14" Juruense...then my 20" tigrinus....... sigh

Knife fish are natural and favorite prey for rays. Knife fish are electrical transmitters, its how they find each other in murky water. Rays hunt using electro receptors (ampullae of Lorenzini) It is not 'if' it is only 'when' the ray finally takes the knife fish. Even size difference won't...

This is the only place in any aquarium where you would actually want anaerobic bacteria...but again...the right ones....but not bacteria man-tweaked to better consume slightly different human waste products.

of course it kills algae...notice the enzymes in it that are specifically designed to digest paper and plant matter? see the comment from another user above whose driftwood etc all got soft. That is nothing to do with the bacteria content.

All of those products are made of ANaerobic bacteria. These bacteria ( and enzymes) are all 'man made' for specific actions in specific environments. NOT for fish tanks! Why would you want that in your tank or filter? ( an aerobic system) Why would you want enzymes that break down wood and...

sigh I am aware of a poor ray hobbyist recently that was advised that using RidX as a probiotic in your tank is useful. IT IS NOT. IT IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS FOR YOUR RAYS. He lost $$$thouands of dollars in livestock. In my opinion more than partly due to adding RidX in his system...

What are the ingredients? Some chemicals are unsafe for scaleless fish..such as rays.... The name suggests copper, which is generally considered unsafe for rays.
