    Sick Dwarf Pike! :(

The water is fine. However I didn't know about a fast day. She was given to me and the person who had her didn't feed a varied diet, mostly those big red sticks with krill, snapped in half. I just recently read up on their diet and saw they need live foods, worms for one. I've been giving...

    Sick Dwarf Pike! :(

I haven't seen her tankmates bothering her any, but who knows what goes on when I'm not looking. It's upsetting that she hasn't eaten, but she can't move around to eat. Her tankmates are: Green Severum Eartheater Headstander Black Ghost Knife Fish That's it. I hope some others...

    Sick Dwarf Pike! :(

What are some common diseases with Dwarf Pike Cichlids? What medications are safe and NOT safe to treat them with? And what about using salt? Is that ok? She can't swim. She stopped eating, and is just laying half out of one of her caves on her side. I can't see any obvious symtoms of...

    240gallon glass

Matt, that tank is 1" thick TEMPERED GLASS...ALL AROUND. Don't try it or it will shatter out everywhere and you can get badly cut up.

    Angels not growing....

Are you sure it's the angels eating the plants and not the snails? When I had a snail infestation, the snails ate all of my plants. I agree with taking the smaller picked on angel out and giving him time to grow and gain confidence.

    this hobby is amazing....

Hey Matt, when that time arrives, promise you'll let me know first before getting rid of any of the fish you got from me? Cuz ya never know, my son might be able to take some back by them. :) Especially if you can't take that Oscar pair.

    this hobby is amazing....

Hey Mike, Matt IS a very blessed young man. In time you will have plenty of big tanks too. It took my son a very long time of working very hard, 58 hours a week, to save up for that 240 that Matt now has. It was a dream of his, and then he only had it for a few months when he then was moving...

Sounds great to me Matt. And ya know, that's what was in that tank. Black sand. All of our tanks have black sand. It works out best for pleco's, and ghost knife fish, the pike, Eartheater, all bottom dwellers. Alot softer on them and easier for them to find and sift thru for food. I too alway...

    this hobby is amazing....

ohh, Matt, Chonk (another very responsible fishkeeper and great kid) told me the two Frontosa's are doing great! They were accepted into the colony, no problems at all. Also, he took the shovelnose and though he wants to keep him so badly (he says "he's a real sweetheart"), he was promised...

    this hobby is amazing....

As long as they're eating they'll be fine until you get more krill. That's a good sign that they're already eating for you! :)

Not that I don't like Clown Loaches. I do. We had some and they caused a massive Ich outbreak in the tank. Anyway, it's just that if one wants a pair to spawn, that pair should be left alone. I mean, wouldn't you feel the same way? ;) I love over filteration. Especially so with Oscars.

    this hobby is amazing....

hahaha!!! Yes, the convict is a male, and yes, it would be disasterous for all concerned if they paired up! But they probably won't. Hey Matt, did you give that krill to the Jag too? I could never get him to eat anything BUT krill! And it had to be jumbo expensive krill. He'd give me an...

That's great news Matt! It makes me <smile> :D I told my son today too and he laughed. He's really glad they went to you. He laughed too about the Flowerhorn and Convict. ;) I look forward to seeing many more pics! Joni

    this hobby is amazing....

I just want to tell everyone that I've met Matt and his parents, and they are a great family! His parents are very wise for supporting this hobby which he loves so much. I did the same with my own son, and he too stayed out of trouble. :) Matt is a great kid! He is a responsible fishkeeper. So...

Hi Matt, We will miss all of them terribly. It seemed so strange not to feed them last night. My son will REALLY miss that Oscar pair! It was so hard for him yesterday when he had to net them out and watch them leave him. :( As I told you he raised them both from tiny babies. But it helps so...

    FL Frontosa Sale!

Thank you Milkman. :) I have not vented them. I had no idea until NOW about venting. I just read up on it. My son is almost positive it's a male and female. They are the same age, but he is much larger then her, his fins are very long and flowing, his hump is more prominent, and he is...
