    I think you'd be surprised. Remember most people are breeding domestic strains, not wilds. So, they are more accustomed to differerent water parameters.

    You should be doing large water changes several times a week, not just once. I do 50% every other day. Water changes are incredibly important for juvenile discus to get them to grow to their full potential.

    Put the breeding pair in a separate tank, or odds are that the other discus will eat the fry. If you can't do another tank, make a divider.

    Also, one of the most interesting thing I learned from the documentary is that Pike cichlids are known to have the longest parental care of any fish in the world.

    The version they showed on discovery is not the entire documentary. The real documentary, which I think was originally shown on the BBC is in 5 parts and is about 2.5 to 3 hours long.
