Hi, I have a 10ft x 3 x 3ft tank and have not found a satisfactory light for it. I have t8's - not good, metal halide - good but expensive and hot, t5 x 2, LED strips. I have been told by a shop that t5s will do the trick. What do people think?

I have had several over the years and most remained small - under 4-5" but I have one now who is at least 6" and does look odd to me at that size. Had to look twice when I saw him - assumed he was a striped one at first.

I think I will put in the air pump just for my piece of mind. So with that you think I will be fine for 2-3 hours? I have got a 40 gallon tank where I heat the water and I can empty that into the tank then I would have to wait for the next lot to heat up so I think 3 hours really. Alison

Hi, I am just putting an aquamedic 150 w metal halide on my tank. It says 30cm away from the water in the leaflet. To do that will be tough so I wondered if that clearance is really necessary. Mine will be half that. How far above the glass does everyone have their metal halides? thanks alison

Platies are not so bright - not only does anybody look like a food supplier to them , they swarm when the dog goes near their tank. Well I suppose I should train the dog to feed the fish! Alison
