Thanks for your help GreenTerra. How did you work out strength versus weight to know that the 32mm ply would be enough to handle the pressure of 3 tonnes of water?

Have a look at a big pleco, or some catfish that grow to a not too larg a size. Synodontis ocellifer is available in south east queensland. Think of htem as a big featherfin catfish, apparently grow to 18 inches. My old Featherfin was a fantastic fish. Maybe a Jungle Perch.

Where do you have your heaters? What the canisters you are using? Are they Pond Canisters, if so, do you have your pumps for the three of them inside the tank or outside? Thanks again

You did a great job of the tank mate. Just wondering now you have had it finsihed during the summer, I guess haven't had an ovrly hot summer, but still it has been consistent at 30 degrees C for the past few weeks, how has the tank temperature held there? I'm thinking about a larger tank...

Mystix212: I know the shop you mean, it is only 2 minutes drive from my house. The clown knife and the red tail cat have been there for months (or they keep replacing them with similar sized fish). The red tail cat was housed in one of those tanks on the bottom shelves for a very long time...

Mine aren't big on it, but sometimes they will have a go at the Zucchini I have in the tank for my pleco.

Somewhere I read they are born pregnant too? But could be wrong?

Owned a couple of dazirans now, a basic chinese brand, they have one piece glass fronts. Have been good so far. Have a standard 5 foot tank, but no idea what brand it is, so i ticked other.

Just for an update, the clown loaches love swimming against the current that the big powerhead makes, they have never spent so much time out in the tank before, they used to always hide whenever people came near, and come out when it was feeding time. But now, they pay less attention and just...

That is fair enough, thinking about hiding it at he bottom of the tank and pointing the stream up the way and see if it makes a difference... in this way it should boil at the surface, hopefully creating a oxygen exchange... Still want to get rid of the air bubbler at some stage.

Sorry, mine died last night at a length of about 33cms, or 13 inches in the old scale. My fault, there wasn't enough oxygen in the tank for it and several other fish too. I had it for about 18 months and it was about 8cms long when I bought it.

Its VIA AQUA 3600, it is a powerhead, I am sure if you put fittings onto it, you could use it as a return pump, or to power a showerbar or a jet ski...

I forgot to add, before anyone else questions it, the tank also has two canister filters on it, one hasa UV sterilzier built into it too.

From personal experience, I found the hard way last night that an air pump will out do a powerhead, had a 2 port eterna air pump, took it out and put in a 1000gal per hour power head, within 6 hours (i went out of the house for a while) I had 11 fish die, was an expensive learning experience. I...
