I swear by the HOT Mag's on the smaller tanks. on my 30gal I got an AquaClear 500 and a marineland HOT mag. I put polyester batting over the sponge for extra surface area (on the AC) and have the intake hooked up to a pre-filter a little "LEE'S" bubblestone type filter that I figured out fits...

Mine likes frozen bloodworms and about any crustations she can fit in her mouth. BTW I say she because she seems to be larger than any I've ever owned and from my research females seem to be larger. sorry just felt lie I needed to explain that...lol

The very same evening both my Cocatiels died at the same time!!! Why? Well I have a new baby daughter and a very small house. Need to make room. Makes my stomache turn but the wife says I can buy that new 240 and stand next summer after we move! So it's all good I guess. The fish are fine. I got rid of the Arowana last summer..got too large for even my old 1100...

I have to give up my 180 Gallon Tank at 1:00PM today... :cry: However I am keeping my big Fire eel "Morris" and my Tilapia Buttikeforri "Buddah" , true Nile bicher, a schoal of Silver dollars and my Belly Crawler Pike. So you know these are not all in the same tank!

Back off on the lipids bro/sis! Turtles, normally, do NOT outgrow thier shells. That would indicate too much fat (lipids) and not enough calcium and vitimin C&A,most importantly E. Buy it a multivitamin and crush it in its food or maybe try a cuttlebone...seriously or eat it...turtle...

It seems to be very healthy otherwise. I keep the tank at 78 degrees Ferenheit and VERY VERY Clean! It used to be automated (waterchange device) but I am more vigilant that the device so I'm going manual now. I feed it very well with Fresh vitamin fortified Smelt and Hikari floating food sticks...

I agree. I've tried all sorts of filters in my day but keep going back to the Aqua Clear 500 (110). They have the least moving parts to fail and are a joy to take care of! Unlike canisters that do a decent job but who looks forward to ripping them down and scrubbing every piece and putting it...
