I can't seem to bring the water temp up... Ran the 800watt heater overnight and im still during at 70... Maybe ill have to insulate the outside of the pond.

If one of the OFs were to clog the tank would not flood... The wet dry is 50g and operates at maybe 30g and the main tank has the capacity to take on probably another 100g. On smaller applications I believe your theory would be correct but for a surface area as large as mine extra precaution...

yeah I put valves on there because I wanted to be able to tune the flow just incase the overflows were to provide too much water... But the mag 24 is a thirsty beast so the valves will most likely remain wide open. krylon fusion is fish safe... I've used it before with no negative effects...

Update: pvc overflows and return plumbed. Waiting on heater and filter media. I had made 3 1.5" overflows and this could not provide sufficient water to the mag 24... So I made a 2" pvc overflow and this one alone brought in more water than the others combined.

Still couldn't get them to work so I'm going back to the first set up

Last night I set up the overflow... I tried the second model that takes water from below the surface... And I could not get it to work... The image posted by chompers is missing something. Ill post pics of my attempt later today...

Traditionally I've used the first model, but I think ill go with the second as it will provide better water distribution over more media.
