    Banded Asian Leaffish/Catopra (Pristolepis fasciata)

    Pristolepis are presently considered "Nandids", so they are in the leaf fish family, but the line between leaf fish and labyrinth fish is not clear. It won't be long before more analysis clears this up though.

    Just got 2 baby bowfin

    One of the reasons juvenile bowfin are so sensitive has to do with their parasite load. Juvenile bowfin are almost always wildcaught, and wild bowfin are always infected with helminth parasites. Many of these worms are specific to the bowfin, and they have probably been infecting this species...

    Any update on the Coreoperca hunt? I'm very interested in getting some for research purposes (and I wouldn't mind one for my 50 tall either). Please email me if you get ahold of Coreoperca or Siniperca, because I would pay you for a fin clip.
