he used to share a tank with a breeding pair of adult managuense, the managuense bred one time, the male was 12", the female was 10", the devil was 11", he took on both the managuense, and won the fight...

the old world cichlids are based in africa, where as the new world cichlids are from america.
most of the sp. you have listed come from africa, and as balton pointed out, if you want to have a higher stock level you will be better off with the african, old world cichlids.
mine are all on timers, i have them on 2-5 hours a day, some of them i never put the lights on, unless photographing fish, or looking at something which i cant see as clearly with out lights.
i suppose having the lights on all the time could affect the fish... giving them alot more fatigue...
RD/midas, i used to own (and am buying back) a RD/midas which could take on any dovii on this site and win, its the measnest thing ive ever seen and is a brutal killing machine.
by the way i also own dovii...
ive had my female for 9 months and she's grown from 1" to 4" in that time...
however, i have a male which ive owned for a month which has grown from 2" to 3" in the one month..
as modest man has pointed out, its NOT a 'kok', its a nuchal hump.
if you post pictures i will try my best to determine the sex...
you could vent it which would give you a definate answer..
