Someone selling this guy local to me... he doesnt know what it is, and frankly, niether do I. This fish is described as being 4-5". Thoughts?

More pics from yesterday, his first water change. He's in a 55 gallon Q tank. That's a 10" pot in there with him. My boyfriend named him Rex. :) He hasn't been interested in earthworms yet, but he's probably not going to be getting feeders much over here.

Something you're not taking into consideration for the pair with the smaller tanks is the aggression involved. I have several pairs of severums and all of them, the males are quite aggressive with the females while breeding. I don't see how she could escape in a smaller aquarium. They might be...

Very possible that fish is sick/stressed as well. JDs go through a wide variety of colors depending on mood, ect.

If it says no salt, then you're probably best advised to do a few more large water changes. I wouldn't trust just one 50%.

...and probably treat for parasites since you've added fish from multiple stores lately..
