    Fish/Reptile Room Progress

Thanks, we've fed it a small moth and house spider and dropped a couple isopods in the enclosure as well, but the spider seems to ignore them. EDIT: it ignores the isopods, it made quick work of the other spider and moth!

    Fish/Reptile Room Progress

While having a beer on my porch between projects, I noticed a pretty large jumping spider on my patio table. Well I happened to have a 1.5g Hex tank that I got from free from a lady at work after her kid's betta kicked the bucket. I created a make shift terrarium and he became the first living...

Finally got my basement remodel finished, including my "office" which amounts to a reptile/fish room that happens to have a computer desk. Here are the progress pictures from the construction:

Stock tank in an unheated greenhouse

I think Orangespotted are pretty sensitive to water quality. I think bullheads would do fine. There is a pond in a pasture in my area, one summer it got so dry that the only "water" left in the pond was the consistency of gravy. Only fish to survive were bullheads. I also 2nd the aquaponics idea

    Anyone familiar with sunfish?

I agree it looks more like a bluegill than blue spotted, but the OP hasn't been logged in since August so it may be moot

    Help sizing pump for 135g

Thanks, I am happy with it as well. I would like to find a way to mask/block some of the light coming from the LEDs, to create some natural shadows and pillars of light. The shimmer from the LEDs is a cool effect and I am really happy with them, but they are bright as all heck so breaking that...

    New tank!

What kind of fish is than on your bed, seems to be doing very well out of water. Some sort of lungfish I imagine? :P

    Help sizing pump for 135g

Water is getting pretty clear, starting to get a yellow tint from the driftwood. Added the rest of the river rocks. All of the driftwood from my previous setup that say dry for 7 months has the white fuzzy fungal looking stuff growing on it. I've had it in the past on driftwood that dries...

The 6x4x2.5 tank. Is this what addiction feels like?

@jaws7777 I bought 100 Micron socks and they are working really well. Quick question, do you notice improved filtration after the first wash? The manufacturer recommends soaking and wringing out new socks a few times to prevent air bubbles, I did this and the worked great, but then I washed...

    New tank!

Yeah. I just setup my 135g in one area of my basement while we finish my office and bathroom in another part of our basement. I thought well, it's setup so I will JUST fill it to see if it will hold water....then I thought I will JUST leave it and get it cycled but leave the tank bare...then...

    Question about price.

Tank 1 sounds like the best deal. Knowing the location would help determine how good of a deal it is, in North Central Kansas those would all be very reasonable prices, particularly option 1. Also, you have to consider not only what you want to pay, but what someone else in your area is...

    Gold jack dempsey breeding!!!

Do you have pictures of the platinum variant? I am unfamiliar. Typically in aquaria the term "platinum" is used to describe an individual with Leucism (referred to as "snow white" frequently to describe fish and herps)

    Help sizing pump for 135g

Well the driftwood is still floating, but I do like the look of it coming from the top, mangrove-esque. It was looking much clearer this morning (the back of the tank is visible finally)
