    My first rarity

Very cool. I think the first "rarity" I got was an L46 Zebra Pleco back in the '90's. They were $40 back then lol.

What temp do you keep your Pleco tanks at?

I've got a luteus pleco with my NA natives and the tank got down to 56 this Winter. He was still very active and did just fine.

    Golden Sailfin aka Hypostomus luteus

I'm the guy that was supposed to get that fish lol. I've never had a problem with anything from Wes, and he made sure we were both taken care of this time. Between Wes and Jeff Rapps, I need no other sources for fish. Awesome guys both. My luteus has been in a native community tank and has...

    Flow for X-Large tanks?

I'm hoping I can get the same effect from the powerhead I just ordered. It doesn't have as much output gph, but then my tank is a bit smaller so I think it should help. I've never thought about eductor or venturi nozzles for my returns, but I'm definitely going to give them a whirl. I need to...

    Flow for X-Large tanks?

I just ordered a Seapora AquaPulse 30 from Premium Aquatics. Over 5000 gph for that price with positive initial reviews....had to try it. We'll see what kind of movement I get. I just want to keep the water moving at the bottom of the tank and to eliminate dead spots around the rock work in...

    Flow for X-Large tanks?

This is a plywood build so the best place will probably be in a corner on the glass window.

    Flow for X-Large tanks?

I was actually looking at some Tunzes. If I go that route I'll need to shell out a little more money for a model that will work with 3/4" glass....or at least get a magnet extension.

    Flow for X-Large tanks?

I'm looking for some recommendations for powerheads for my largest tank, which is 8'x4'x4'. I've got quite a bit of rock work along the back of the tank and there are plenty of dead zones in the tank now. The only circulation at the moment is the return from my sump which is from a Water...

    Buenos Aires Tetras

I wish these got bigger. I've got a 1000g tank that I let dip into the 50's during the Winter and a big school of these would be awesome. Unfortunately they'd turn into food. Maybe in my Daughter's tank.....

10/2017 datnoids, puffers, gobies., and more!

Thanks again Wes. I just received my Luteus today and it looks amazing. Great size and color and looks super healthy.

10/2017 datnoids, puffers, gobies., and more!

Wes, my tank runs 60-72F depending on the time of year. Is this too cold for Luteus long term? I may start upping that temp to 78-80 for a few months in the summer, but for the most part it's the ambient temp of my basement.

    Shadow bass

For you, shadow bass. I find them at a place I go to occasionally during the summer in the Ozarks. According to Pflieger Rock Bass have not been collected in the River I'll be getting them from. The ambloplites right down the road from me are, I'm pretty certain, rock bass. I'll look at them...

    Shadow bass

I live in So. ILL and will travel a little bit to get to where I can collect these. There is a local stream that has Shadows or Rock bass here as well. Range maps would indicate rock bass, but then this stream also has smallmouth bass, northern hogsuckers and some others you typically don't...

    Shadow bass

That's perfect. An adult "should" be easy to find. The river I find them in has experienced some pretty impressive flooding lately, so I'll have to see how that changes things. Price is cost of shipping or a trade.

    Shadow bass

I can get you one, but it won't be until later this Summer...maybe even June. What size are you looking for?

    Wild Yellow Bullhead Catfish

That's one of the coolest bullheads I've ever seen, and I've had pretty much every species except the true spotted bullhead. I would love to get my hands on one like you have. Good find.
