Best type of Asian for a black back ground tank

Red or gold would look fine in your tank. Personally I'd go with a red in a tank with black background, but thats me. In terms of how small an aro you could get, the gars worry me. Well actually, I wouldn't mix the two species at all. I wouldn't want those gar teeth tearing up the scales oor...

what do guys think about this red

They can be imported into Canada. Expect to pay 4-5 times what you would pay for a high quality x-back for one. Expect to pay a lot more for a high quality King.

    Food options for large Jardini

Beef heart is extremely high in protein and i personally would not use it as a staple. I feed my aros market shrimp, Hikari massivore pellets and carrot gut loaded superworms as a treat. Younger aros get more meat while adults get more pellets as growth slows.

    asian arowana tank

And to add, I'll be upgrading the 8x2x2 to an 8x3x2 for the red just to give him room to turn. They do not turn on a dime like silver aros do.

    asian arowana tank

I have two asians in 8 foot tanks that both started out in 6 ft 180s. In my humble and honest opinion, a 6 foot tank is not long enough although many keep them in smaller tanks. If you want them to have the room to bolt without smashing lids when they get spooked, and they do, 8 feet is ideal...
