I was thinking of converting salt water fish to freshwater for awhile now. Mullet was one of the possible fish. Can you tell me how exactly you converted them and what you feed them or any special care they need.

What can I feed my fish as extra protein to make them grow faster. The store feed has 33% crude protein but my fish grow way faster with the 44% crude protein foods just that they're like 10x more expensive especially when I'm buying 20lbs at a time.

i use bricks in my tanks but never had a problem before. Infact one of my ponds is made of bricks and concrete. I tested ph and its about 8.0. I've been monitoring the fish also and none have died and they are all eating. Only diffrence is the water came clearer. Maybe Dr.Joe could explain this...

Have any idea why the algae would start dying off so drastically just because I put a brick in the water? What does that brick do that makes that happen?

Update: The filter sump has become very dirty like the debris in the water is getting heavier and sinking all into my sump. Its like a coat of dirt after my filter media on my scrubbies.

Nice Pond. Where in hawaii you live? Maybe add some bala sharks when the pond is cycled? They're fast enough to not get swallowed up by your monsters.

Are the roots of those taro plants in the pond water? I got my land taro plant in my 175 gallon pond and it cleared my brown water to crystal clear water in 1 week. Thats why I don't use hyatchins. They didn't do crap for my pond other than shed roots and make more rubbish.

I can't really tell real well but are you positive that its not just molting? Mine used to do that and freak me out everytime I would come home and find it. Sneaky ones too, they like to crawl out and dry themselves too.

Those are actually "tuff stuff" ponds that are sold at Waimanalo feed supply. Those ones there run about $35 each I believe. They used to bring in the rubbermaid stock tanks but these tuff stuff ones are cheaper so they don't carry the rubbermaids anymore.
