21" Silver Arowana - West Plains, MO - Pick-up only

After contacting Cichlids & Salt in Springfield MO to see if they'd take it, they hooked me up with someone about a half hour away that's going to pick it up on Thurs. /thread

21" Silver Arowana - West Plains, MO - Pick-up only

Yeah, don't think I'm gonna have a lot of luck living where I do. I'd take it to a shop, but the two we have in town are just awful and they would end up feeding it goldfish and selling it to somebody with an even smaller tank I'm sure.

21" Silver Arowana - West Plains, MO - Pick-up only

Well taken care of 21" + Silver Arowana. Pellet trained (Hikari sticks), receives 50% waterchanges weekly, never been fed feeders since I got it as a baby. Was planning on moving to a bigger place where I could get him a bigger tank, but it looks like that unfortunately won't be happening...

    Lamprey Eel?

Blech, those things have always grossed me out. Not the body shape or anything, just the primitive jawless parasitism of it. Still better than a hagfish though.

Comprehensive article on salt usage in aquariums

http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/content.php?sid=2850 A good read, supports the "only for medicinal use" side of the salt argument.

    Fish Keeping going downhill

brutal, I've had some bad streaks, not quiet that bad though lol. If you've got tanks, you might as well keep them going IMO.

    Jack colors

I think she's just really really relaxed. Very pretty JD, love the red coloring on the head. My male is just the opposite, jet black at all times, but then again he lives will a full grown male GT.

    Aquascapeonline shipping cost

Heh, and that's the reason I've yet to purchase any fish online.

    UV sterilizers worth it?

No, it won't lessen waterchanges. All it will do is help prevent parasites, and kill green water.

    Cloudy Eye on Ornate?

I've only had cloudy eyes on endli's, no more than a moderate haze that cleared up on it's own with increased water changes. Don't know how cloudy it can get before it's irreversible. Could just be damaged as well.

    Endli burying head?

They'll bury themselves almost completely (at least when they're small) if they have deep enough sand, or a hill to plow through.

    Any FIN cutters out there?

I have an ornate bichir that has always had somewhat deformed pectoral fins, no idea if it is from damage or just genetic. Would probably be worth a try, but I doubt I'd ever actually do it.

    PICKY AROWANA

I think I'm gonna have to give up on trying to get mine to eat NLS at this point. It's been a couple weeks now that he's refused to eat and I'm not willing to push it any further. Maybe I'll try mixing some NLS in with hikari so he accidentally eats it, and then I can try to slowly increase...

    Foil?

You can stick anything you want on the back of a tank, if you're talking about putting it in the water, it doesn't sound like a good idea but I really don't know.

    The difference...

Have to agree, looked kinda bleh on the white sand, great looking now.

why does my jack dempsey hide

My big male GT is a glassbanger, and I've seen videos of others doing the same. At the very least they are commonly bolder than JD's.

How many polys are there on mfk?

    2 endli's, 1 ornate, 1 senegal = 511

    What's cooler......

African butterflyfish are very cool looking, but are one of the most boring fish you can own in my experience. They only come out during feeding, and the rest of the time they hide motionless in a dark tank corner.

why does my jack dempsey hide

Yeah, in my experience JD's are unfortunately shy and skittish (but I still love em). If you want a bold cichlid, try a GT.
