Buying tank w/ established snails & crabs -- but adding new water

I'm purchasing a tank tomorrow that will have live rock / sand & some snails & crabs. They'll be transported in minimal water, then I"ll quickly set it up and start adding my mixed water to it. Any other suggestions for making sure I keep the crabs & snails alive? They aren't my top...

    Water Change Guidelines

As I start my new tank, I need to know how to do the water changes. My FW tanks, I always raked the gravel with the hose and took out a lot of debris. Should I do this when I do water changes in my new SW tank? I'm assuming not, but want to make sure.

New Tank: Don't know what I'm doing

    Freshwater - "concrete live rock"

I've seen SW that I like-- after a year it looks good anyway. I'm concerned it won't get good algae growth on it, but I think what I'm going to do is make it and get a kiddy pool that I'll leave out in the sun while I let it leach. That way, there will hopefully be a lot of algae growing on...

    all of my fish died...

that absolutely sucks for you. Wonder what happened. Especially on multiple tanks. Weird. Any chance you did the water change all on one day? And the bucket you used was an old bleach container? What were the common variables here? Good luck with the restocking, that should be fun...
