QUITE POSSIBLY THE SQUIRRLIEST THREAD I'VE READ ON HERE.
THERE ARE ONES GIVING GREAT ADVICE TO THE BLIND--- BUT THEY CHOOSE TO FOLLOW THE DUMB.
WYLDFYA KNOWS THE DEAL!
1. no low light anemones will host a clown.
2. hosting anemones need at least 5 watts per gallon, preferably more like 10 and some ritteri take 20+
3. no worry with the triggers, they wont bother anemones
i sure the heck wouldnt attempt it. I know people with 220 gal reefs that poured concrete bases from the basement to the 1st floor because of the weight and warping issues.
I had no trouble with mine (fish wise)... he was last put in the tank and after 10 minutes of show off, everything was calm. It'll eat EVERYTHING that it can put in its mouth, from clams to crabs to corals. Great fish, great personality.
It's not common at all for a ribbon to eat frozen... pretty freak. Did you actually watch the chromis picking at the eel? What type of chromis are they? Greens are planktivores and shouldnt mess with the eel.
I've used a UV on all 3 of my Reefs since their inception. Every coral, clam, shroom, shrimp.... has spawned in every one of my tanks. UV will NOT cause any issues with a reef, except for killing the spawn in the water column. I even had the rare event of an Astrea snail mass spawning occur...
dwarf lions need live food but can handle smaller tanks.
volitans and other free swimming lions need large large tanks 90g for 1 year, then minimum of 300G by full adulthood.
filtering is always best done by live rock, and a little aragonite sand around 1-2"
well said, but for a shark, more like 500+ gallons depending on tank shape.
You wont want to put anything with the stonefish that would pick at it... ex triggers, angels
well what kind of skimmer is it you have? for salt water fish only, they dont care about the lighting. with salt, you really want to use live rock for the filter as well as the skimmer. you can take the bioballs out of filter... they'll cause high nitrates. first thing you need to worry...
I live in Pittsburgh and am moving.
I have numerous corals and live rock that I need to get rid of. Offer a price and come pick it up. Send me a PM and we'll go from there.
