The alcohol that is used is grain alcohol such as vodka, not rubbing alcohol. Rubbing alcohol definitely is not to be used. I've had to use the clove oil method several times, using the directions posted on AC by user ct-death. I copied and pasted it and saved it on my laptop, so here it is...

That's an incredible fish. I know you love him. He's gonna be OK. Don't kick yourself at all. Fish are removed from tanks and even have out-of-tank surgery. Sure it's stressful... but your big beefy boy can take more stress than that quick excursion gave him. You definitely need to find...

I hope your pond is far away from any river or tributary. If they can survive out of water for several days, as the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Fisheries poster stated, then the thing could flop its way to a stream or river. They're pretty scary.
