ok heres a picture of one of the other gts, lighter in color with more spangling in the fins. couldnt get a picture of the other one but it pretty much looks the same but a little bit more beat up in the fins from the cons in the tank with babies

you may need a stronger pump with more gph and a larger hole in the bottom of ur barrel so that your filter doesnt over flow. you could take a container and place it at the bottom of ur 1in pipe and let that fill up and then over flow that way you have something slowing ur flow allowing the...

that all being said i say the airstone and sponge filter idea are your best bet. imo if you get the sponge filter try and do it asap and put it in your tank running now so that it has a good build up of beneficial biological bacteria
