Few pics of the progress and after a year of operation. I used 2" foam and a hot knife. Lightly painted with a lighter color for depth of texture. Paint was drylok with cement pigment.

I knew it wasn't actually a pleco, but resembles one in pic. Definitely a ghost shark. Fascinating.

Have you done a water change since adding? I had a similar issue(pictus cats) until I did a big water change.
