If you have several of the same type, they may interact with each other. My flash L204 are out and about and displaying at each other. Also conversely if you have enough hiding places they will feel confident to explore.

I would. Supposedly the roe is good too. There are established plecos in Texas warm springs. Maybe a way to control them?

If you have some extra wood, put it in a container with water outside to grow some algae and aufwuch and put it in the tank a few weeks later.
