    Behind Tank PVC pipe filter

See above, it will someday be a closed system as a canister filter. The multiple chambers is to get as much bio medial as I possibly can in it.

    Behind Tank PVC pipe filter

I originally set the tank up with an above tank sump built into a hood. I worked really well until it clogged and overflowed. I then cut my nose off to spite my face and removed it rather than just fixing my design flaw and moving on. Been regretting it ever since. Under tank sump is not...

    Behind Tank PVC pipe filter

Hey, Been a long time since I posted here. My 240 (see my signature) is running a bit rough and I need a bunch more filtration. I wont get into why just know it was a total bonehead move. I have an idea for a behind tank filter that if I build a pair should give me a total of 1800 GPH...

    New Tank

This is by no means a start to a build, but more of a exploratory thread that might lead to a new tank. Back in 2010 I built a 240 gallon Plywood/Glass tank. It has more than served me well for the last decade and now it is time to upgrade. So after a trip to ATM (Acrylic Tank Manufacturing) of...

Worried that your stand won't hold up?

Been a lot of years since I posted here. Now I am in design of a 500+/- gallon upgrade from my 240. Dimensions will be 96x36x36. To the point I built 2 stands for a 55 and a 86 out of plywood and both are solid as a rock. My 2x4 stand for the 240 is great but with all the vertical bracing there...

    ~475 Plywood Build

This is a great build. I am currently planning an upgrade from my 240 Plywood to a 500+/-. Looking at a dimension of 96L X 36W X 36H. Wife has given my the preliminary go ahead. Better get started before she changes her mind.

Single Canister Filters for a 125 Gallon

I run a FX5 on my 240 and the tank looks like crap. Water quality is good, just not enough movement to get all the "crap" picked up. Am working on a DIY filter right now.

    Behind tank sump

Been forever since I have been on here. About 6 years ago I built a 240 gallon Ply tank and over tank sump. I got so frusterated cleaning it (and changing the dead pumps was a pain in the butt too) I took out the sump and cut it into pieces and threw it away. Well........ can you say cutting...

hardwood stand build still in progress

Amazing work. Nice to see someone that realizes that 4x4s and 2x4s are not necessary to hold up a tank.

    DIY Overhead Filter

I had an overhead filter on my 240 when I built it. I loved it until I had to clean it. It was also loud moving 2000+ gph. But now that I have removed it, I am hating myself. Nicely done.

    DIY Overhead Filter

I did an 8" plywood version of this. It was a beast, and kept my tank sparkling clear. Only real probmems were it was a pain to clean, and was very loud (pushing 2000 gph). I have since removed it and am building a 2000 gph canister filter system from 4" pvc. If you are interested check out my...

    DIY 120 Stand

I need to take staining lessons from you. I totally suck at it. My 84 is not turning out as well as I wanted. Too bad I am not as good at staining as I am at building.
