Most cichlids will fit comfortably in a 125. As in my sig. My second 125 is overstocked but it is way overfiltered.

you need to upgrade within two months. Also what is your filtration? I would suggest holding off on tankmates till you get your 200+ gallon tank.

^^^ soak it in hot water and vinegar. Test on small tank with zebra danios or something...you can save it!
