Thats the reply I was looking for, thank you. I won't be useing this to replace weekly WC's as much as a way to maintain better water quality between them. As far as the auto WC system goes It might be somthing I do in the future but I am trying to avoid it untill I get my well put in. Good...

DSB/ Dry LR filtration in FW sump?

Well for years aquarist (inc myself) have use LR and DSB's in the SW hobby to reduce nitrates. I have never really set one up specificaly for denitration in FW though. Well depending on how the market plays out this fall I have started dreaming up my 300G FW tank that I want to match up to a...

Large Cichlid for a 180 gallon.

Festae, Jag's, Trimac's, Umbee are all nice options. If you want great personality outside the cichlid family a nice fat fahaka puffer is an awsome wet pet but a fahaka tank is a 1 man show. You could also go for a colony of nice Frontosa or even several nice Geo's.

    Nitrate Reductor Question

In all my tanks I have nitrate reducers, Plants for FW or plenty of Live Rock/Deep sand bed + macros for SW +1 Plants/macro's are amazing filters, and yes they do absorb/metabolize other DOC's like phosphates but they also use other trace elements that other life in your tank needs (thus...

    Trimacs

I dunno about Chris.clay11 I have nothing against hybrids, I think some of them are stunning fish I would even like to have an SRT at some point but for the most part they are just not my cup of tea. I just have a thing for wild caught, all natural color and behavior of aquatic life in the...

What is your policy on tipping wait staff?

Unlike some folks (no need to point fingers, ya know who you are) I started out life dirt poor and put in my fair share of time in the customer service industry. So I usually tip quite well because I know these people who are busting their butts to prepare and serve me food live off tips. I just...

Anyone using the marineland reef capable leds?

From what I saw of them (just an observation, no actual research) in a shallow tank less than 20" they would work fine for softies however most LPS would need more light. They look fantastic imo but not nearly bright enough to grow most LPS or any SPS/Clams/Nems. If you want higher end grow...

    Help Protein Skimmer Problem

Depends on how wet you want your skimate. The closer the bubbles break to the neck of the skimmer the wetter it will be. I like to skim a little to the dry side and back the water lvl off untill the bubbles are breaking an inch or two from the edge.

    Help Protein Skimmer Problem

Sounds like you just need to adjust your skimmer, if the water lvl is too high it will flood out fast. If the water lvl looks fine on start up just keep checking back every few min untill you see exactly what it is doing and adjust it from there.
