Do I have the biggest pleco on mfk?

You might have a long pleco but large panaques have a helluva lot more body mass than that skinny Hypostomus

    Brighter Marineland LED

Hey Guys, did you see the new LED light that Marineland is putting out? They are calling it "Reef Capable" but if it can grow corals, it can definitely make enough light to illuminate our lovely fishes Reef Capable LED. I think general lighting discussion for making fish look good is woefully...

13 yr old Blue Eye Pleco

You mean wood right? Check out what he did to this 4" diameter, 30" long log I pulled out of the river to feed him. The photo was taken less than 24 hrs after putting it into the tank. Now the log looks perpetually spotless. The dark areas are where the log was once charred, and he avoids this...

Plasma Arc light over a planted tank

Thought I would report back. I installed the light over my tank a week ago and took it off line yesterday. The reason? The plasma arc was so bright that it was literally bleaching my Toninas and Syngonanthus even with running just 8 hrs a day. Guess I have to set up a larger planted tank just so...

    The 12fter IS HERE!!!!!!!!!

It is really a bad idea to use oolitic sand with in a saltwater fish aquarium, especially a nutrient heavy tank like a predator aquarium. Oolitic sand is used in some reef tanks because it acts like a manageable nutrient sink under some conditions; in a fish tank it just stores and releases...

Debunked: CO2-Myth --- See tanks without carbon dioxide fertilization

These are my plants, grown in my own tank and Aquascaperz is also my site. Here is a video of my full tank from late in the summer. For starters I can tell you that this tank uses a LOT OF CO2 and if the carbon dioxide tank runs out the colors fade within a day or two. <object width="853"...

Debunked: CO2-Myth --- See tanks without carbon dioxide fertilization

These planted tanks look good but they also look like they are running without CO2. When you can grow plants like these w/o CO2 then you can say that CO2 is some kind of big myth, and dont even try getting anything more than imaginary red without CO2. Carbon dioxide is still the limiting factor...

Plasma Arc light over a planted tank

The plasma arc LIFI light emitter has no "ends", no contacts and as far as I know it only comes in 250 watts so far, although more powerful LiFi lights are in the works. The emitter end is about the size of an LED. http://reefbuilders.com/wp-content/gallery/lifi/lifi-2.jpg

Plasma Arc light over a planted tank

I just received one of the last beta units of the new Seashine Plasma Arc LIFI light from Stray Light Optical. All I can say is that this light is freakin POWA. Here it is over my planted tank, as I hold it up. Keep in mind that the picstures were made after the lights had gone off, so many...

13 yr old Blue Eye Pleco

I spoke with the previous owner today and he said that his tank has become a lot more peaceful and the other pleco, synodontis and large clown loaches are spending a lot more time out in the open, looking more relaxed. I am thinking about eventually homing the blue eye's 48" 150 gallon with a...
