Entered a photo contest on Facebook, need likes!

Hey all, I entered a photo contest to win a free Blood Python, and in order to move on to the next round, I need to be one of the top five liked pictures. I still have a ways to go and voting ends on the eighth now, so if you guys could all like my entry or even share it for others to like, I...

Croc Skink is a good idea. I wouldn't go with Flying Geckos, they're very active and should be given a bigger cage. Besides, not enough climbing structure for them in there.

I've seen them at around a foot long, maybe a little over.

I would say that an Abronia would be too large for that cage.

I agree, dart frogs would work well, as long as they can be kept cool enough, which can be hard during Texas summers. If you want something a little easier you could go with some firebelly toads or something similar, with that water area you might be able to keep firebelly newts as well. Long...

    does anyone keep water monitors?

If you're in Vegas then an outdoor cage is a big no-no. The low humidity out there would kill any monitor you tried to keep outside, especially a salvator. Here are some examples of suitable cages.

    Can you id this snake?

I believe the total number of recorded deaths is currently at two.

Just showing off my amphibians, reptiles and other exotic pets

You really need to change the substrate in the Argus cage. They are a burrowing species, and need a thick layer of sandy soil to burrow and lay eggs in.

    savannah monitor,

The more important thing is that he has a basking area large enough for him to sit on and have his entire body covered. Otherwise the part directly under the light can be burned while he is still waiting for the rest of his body to heat up.

    savannah monitor,

You ought to have an infrared temperature gun. However, basking temperatures hot enough that it's hard to keep your hand there are somewhat normal for monitor lizards, and not that uncommon in nature. Just think about the pavement during the summer... Find a rock on a sunny day, and it's the...

    savannah monitor,

As long as the head and body of the monitor are covered, the basking spot is large enough.

    savannah monitor,

Sounds pretty good, better than most setups for sure. How large is the Sav and how often/how much have you been feeding him? 130 is plenty for a small guy but as he grows you may want to raise it to the 140-150 range. Some will use higher temperatures than that, but most don't.

    savannah monitor,

Can you please tell us his size and enclosure setup? I'm just having a hard time imagining a six month old sav being scared by something as small as a hornworm, regardless of it poking the sav or not.

She's looking good! How is the enclosure looking these days? Is she starting to trample the plants yet?

    savannah monitor,

How do you have his enclosure set up? Air temperatures, basking surface temperature, humidity, substrate, etc? How big is he at the moment?

    Peacock Day Geckos

Thanks everyone! For those who keep Day Geckos or others, where do you usually get your bamboo poles for their cages? I am uneasy about purchasing some used for home decoration, as I would imagine they may be chemically treated. At the same time, I don't have a stand of bamboo to harvest some...

    Peacock Day Geckos

Picked up this pair about a month ago, haven't gotten around to posting pictures here yet. Male: Female: Together: The cage: The female evidently came to me already gravid, and laid her eggs where the door of the cage meets the wall, and I did not...

( 2 part) UVB Strength, Hatchlings

I would set it up and monitor the temperatures for a day or so before putting the turtles in. If it has enough holes in it then it shouldn't overheat, as water from the stock tank would be cycling through.

More like PLEASE get this carpet away from me and give me a proper substrate. Reptile carpet is one of the worst options out there, not least because it has the potential to be caught on teeth while the snake is eating...
