Yes, I agree, powerheads are a very decent addition to your tank, I wouldn't say your P would die if you don't have one... But you should have one if your serious about having a complete tank setup.. And I don't hear my powerhead..... at all......
I understand that the prices of aquariums can be... very high. But Personally I think that if your able to wait a little longer and save some more money, try to see if you can find someone selling a larger setup maybe in your classified section of your local newspaper or whatever. You can...
Powerhead, such as a MaxiJet, it puts circulation in the water, kinda like a stream. Here is a link;

Hey, I have always heard that Elongatus Piranhas are solo fish, and I've kept mine by that rule of course. I'm not a newb to the piranha world but I knwo the following is a newb question reguarding elongatus piranhas. Is there Possibily a tank mate I could have with it? Reason I ask is the link...

Protopterus Aethiopicus *Marbled Lungfish*
I think are the most appealing to the eye. They are very pretty, although no decent sized lungfish will go without a compliment.

the spotted green puffers can be in fresh water and slat and mixed... I have seen it with my own eyes and was rather suprised at first. But I am not sure on the transition process. I am sure that just throwing them in there isn't a wise idea, from fresh to salt..
Well, I agree snakeheads are pretty damn aggresive, but I would go with either an Elongatus Piranha or a Branti Piranha. They are typically by nature so aggressive they have to be kept solo. Last I looked Snakeheads ( which I am not an expert on them ) are able to be kept in pairs.
