    Cetopsis Candiru VS Cetopsis Coecutiens

Yes, in general C. candiru has sort of a dusky brown to grey color over its back with a more white to pink background color. It also has noticeably darker dorsal and pectoral fins. C. coecutiens is consistently dark blue on top with silvery-white sides.

    Cetopsis Candiru VS Cetopsis Coecutiens

    C. candiru is longer, more cyindrical. C. coecutiens is more spindle-shaped with a higher dorsal fin and a more deeply forked tail than C. candiru. There have been a lot of misidentifications of C. candiru in the past but currently the photos on Planet Catfish are accurate.

    Baby Flathead Catfish

In addition to the barbels, the long anal fin and more convex margin of the caudal fin indicate this is a yellow.

    Baby Flathead Catfish

Specifically, OP's fish is a yellow bullhead.

    Catfish ID

This is definitely a pimelodid - Bagrid catfishes have a pair of nasal barbels, which this fish lacks. Bagrus in particular has a huge, smoothly rounded adipose fin. I would agree with @thebiggerthebetter that this is Brachyplatystoma vaillanti.

    Need ID of the species

Here's a better image from a still of a video on the same instagram account. This fish is Pimelodus maculatus. Not a very common aquarium export, but considering the IG account is from Brazil, it makes sense that they would more readily available there.

What is this gulper catfish eating?

    Terrible waste of a Clarias!

How big does the walking catfish get ?

Have looked at a lot of specimens of Clarias from a lot of different species and have not seen a C. batrachus over 20 inches (51 cm). It's probable that they get a bit bigger, but wouldn't guess by much. That said, Clarias species are very tough to tell apart and the large-growing Clarias...

    Catfish ID

Confident in calling these fish brown bullheads. The difference between blacks and browns isn't as clear as one might hope. As @thebiggerthebetter notes, browns have larger serrations on their pectoral spines, but I haven't found this to be very obvious unless you've got both of them in front of...

Here's a note from a paper on the evolution of catfish venom glands: "Although the stings of most catfish species are relatively harmless, albeit very uncomfortable, fatalities have been reported as the result of envenomations by members of the families Plotosidae (Plotosus lineatus) and...

    Lau Lau or Manitoba catfish

I think that's an aberration of "manitoa" which is a local name applied to Brachyplasystoma vaillanti...similar in appearance to B. filamentosum or capapretum but a bit stockier and doesn't grow nearly as large.

    Electric eel questions

Regarding the electric discharge....It's my understanding that E. voltai does not necessarily have the most powerful discharge, it is merely the species for which the highest discharge was measured. The voltage increases with length, so in order to know which one is strongest, you would need to...

Can I see your dwarf giraffe.

@Yellowcat I'd be really interested to see your N. macrostoma. I've been researching Notoglanidium for a while now and have yet to see any convincing photos of true macrostoma that were imported for the aquarium hobby. All seem to be Parauchenoglanis or other species of Notoglanidium.

Can I see your dwarf giraffe.

One interesting thing to note...which is probably not helpful...is that all of the live photographs of N. macrostoma on planetcatfish are not really that species. The true N. macrostoma has a much flatter, wider head than those fish, which you can see on these preserved specimens...

This is the fish I was thinking of...sorry for the low-quality image. It's a screenshot of a video from a private fb group.

    Identification

I believe this might be an odd color variant of Brachyplatystoma juruense...I'll see if I can dig up a photo for comparison.

Capa or Fila? True or false?

There are huge (or at least 5 foot +) piraiba that are caught in Peru. That's not to say that these are the same "thing" that get exported as juveniles, but they are there.

    Catfish ID PLEASE!

Certainly something from the family Bagridae, but really tough to tell with so much of the body obscured.

    Eel catfish

There are quite a number of eel like species of clariid catfishes, but G. typus from Nigeria seems to be the only one to make it into the aquarium trade with any regularity.

How many types of freshwater eel tail catfish are there?

The fish in OP's picture is part of the family Trichomycteriae (which includes the dreaded candirus). Can't narrow it down much beyond that, but looks like Trichomycterus or Ituglanis.
