Ok guys I picked up 2 Tiger Oscars from my last roughly a month ago. One is a standard Tiger (growing fast) the other, an Albino Tiger (growing not)... Are Albino Oscars slower to grow? They both eat like hungry hippos... What gives? I swear the standard Tiger Oscar has grown more than...

Okie Dokie. I wish I had the time to reply to each reply individually. I don't think Clown Loaches are going to be my best option for tank mates with my south American cichlids. Wrong substrate is just one issue I have. The tank is now at 80°, there is plenty of airflow and water movement...

I should also mention, I've bought Clown Loaches from several different local pet stores, as well as big box chain stores like Petsmart and Petco. They all die off. Please help me.

It seems every time I buy a clown loach it dies. None have lived over a week. And surprisingly, they eat (bloodworms) fine, but then die. It's aggravating.. My current tank is a 55 gal housing 2 baby Oscars, a baby Jack Dempsey, an 8" Pleco. Water parameters are normal. Tank is cycled...

Heads up, "-I learned that if you experience your pictus catfish consistently (daily, regardless of water changes) swimming up and down the tank, it is uncomfortable with the water parameters (PH hardness, etc...), and is incapable of adjusting". :nono: I doubt they'll thrive and live as long...

Actually it's not working out... My clown loaches died of ich :( they were pretty cool while I had them but they didn't fight the parasite as well as the pictus cats. I'm still wide open to advice for tankmates! :popcorn:

That's odd. My tank recently came down with ich, my pictus cats and pleco were the only ones to survive. All 6 of my CL's died, but the pictus live strong :)

I'll post some pics tonight when they come out to eat.

People shouldn't post information saying they are social and like to be kept in schools. They are loners. Lemme guess, my Oscar can also be housed in a 10 gal? LOL.

I have 4 Pictus Cats . . . And they hate each other. :( Everything I read says that when they're young they prefer to be kept in a school, and when they're mature they prefer smaller groups.. Why do mine each have their own territory? They rarely interact with one another, until the feeding...

Likewise. My 6 inch O' went after my (2-4") Clowns when I tried to introduce them. HOWEVER. Like any Oscar, he is the most peaceful community fish you could ask for. If it can't fit in his mouth, it'll be his best friend forever. I'm housing my 6 CL's with 5 Pictus-Cat's until they get big...

OK So I got 6 CL's. They're small ranging from 2-4", and I picked up 4 more Pictus-Cat's.. So 6 CL's and 5 Pictus and 1 Pleco living in a 55 gal - once the CL's grow large enough to house with my Oscar they'll be transferred to the 150 gal. Thanks for the awesome advice MFK.

I don't understand. I bought 6 babies from my LFS for less than $30 for all six. . . . I get to watch them grow up. So why in the world would I ever spend $100+ for one CL? (Just because it's 10"+ does not justify the price difference for me)

Thanks for the info. My LFS does NOT give correct info whatsoever. They are sold as a tropical community fish, it says right on the tank, they require a temp of 75-82º(f) :screwy:

Wow . . . Isn't that something. I realize what you're saying now.. Yeah, the "Albino's" they sell at corporate f-stores look like a mutt-mix between an albino & a tiger O' compared to that 1.
