    3x3x3.5 ft tank

Hello, been a good long while since I posted but I "hopefully"will be headed to pick up a 3x3 base by 3.5 ft tall used tank tomorrow. Calls show it about 237g which is several times larger than any previous tank I have owned (largest was 75g). This will be the first tank I have setup since I...

No problem, I like to make people laugh! Oh, thanks for proving my point!

    4300 Gallon Plywood Build (3600+ Take 2)

mmm... you do not embrace the spirit of these forums, constructive criticism is one thing and people can understand and often appreciate that but targeting someone because you are 1. jealous that you cant even get this far yourself or 2. you are just an obnoxious douche who prioritizes putting...

    4300 Gallon Plywood Build (3600+ Take 2)

Its clear that you do not understand how much a tank of this size affects a persons life, not just their wallet! The only epic fail here is your failure to understand that many mfk'ers have families and can relate or understand this thread and gives them motivation to give all the more support...

How would you close off six holes in a glass tank?

+1 for this, just seal it with bulk heads but the plywood would work too.

    What Should I Do?

Shipping animals is always a pain, tis the main reason I always try to deal locally if I can but sometimes it just cant be avoided. I really try to work with the person on the other end to ensure that I know the exact day that its supposed to arrive and like stated above, you pretty much have to...

    Pixie Frog tank requirements.

Personally I would recommend going with a little larger lamp, perhaps even a ceramic lamp or under tank heater (do they need a basking spot or just general temp?) and use this to control your temperature. If you are trying to keep the entire cage @ 80 then you will definitly need the thermostat...

So I'm getting a breaded dragon

I would stay away from super-worms, not really a good staple, more so a treat. Their hard shells are a pain to digest. I support the Dubia roaches, I just started a colony for my 5 dragons and I can truly attest that they are soooo much better. Slower, don't jump, don't stink, don't fly, live...

    Central air pump recommendations.

I went with a commercial grade 45 Liter per minute piston driven air pump. Down sides are it is not as quiet (though not "super" loud) but the upsides are 1. No damn Diaphragm to wear out! 2. Very powerful, for the $50-ish price tag I paid, it blows the 3-4L per minute "Silent" pumps out of...

    Replacing glass in tanks

I have a 70 gallon repaired that way and it works fine but I am seriously considering doing exactly as you suggested since it currently is my only 36" long tank, rest are all 48".

looking for a Rare cichlid - Haplochromis latifasciatus

Yes it does go by that common names sometimes but I would venture a bet yours was a more common Astatotilapia Latifasciata or one of the other 2-3 species that get tagged with that common name.

looking for a Rare cichlid - Haplochromis latifasciatus

Let me know if you find any, even if we can just get a few pairs, the hard part will be diversity in the blood lines. It may be too late...

Plant only filtration (why not popular in the hobby???)

I spoke to my wife concerning the sweet potatoes, she says that they have two types of roots or their roots adapt to what they are planted in. "Water Roots" don't sprout potatoes and die off if you plant them in soil, which then the plant will regrow "Soil Roots" which do grow potatoes and die...

if you breed two blue gene dempseys, are you gauranteed electric blues?

Only sometimes from what i have read, the blue gene just increases your chances. But you still may only get a couple

looking for a Rare cichlid - Haplochromis latifasciatus

Does anyone know of someone who has a breeding pair of pure Haplochromis latifasciatus? I am trying to hunt down some fry for future breeding project. It looks like its up to us to keep this fish from going the way of the dodo bird...

    fish got an ass beating

I must be lucky, our Petsmart fish and reptile guy actually gives a damn, he used to be a member on here before he got out of fish for the most part and just does snakes now. Granted it is still the same corporation so he is limited in his power but their tanks are always clean, fish look...

Plant only filtration (why not popular in the hobby???)

I believe this is dependent on species of sweet potato, I think some of the more decorative variates can be grown year round. I will have to look into it more, this is getting more into my wifes area lol.

Yeah, the Jewel is about 3.5" I have 4" ID PVC in there for some of the tunnels atm and he just about touches both sides when he turns around in there. The JD is maybe 2-2.5, just a wee baby.
